I recently made a scrollsaw bowl. It turned out good and I've had a few request for more of them. The problem is that I hate trying to cut with the table tilted. No problem, I'll just buy a EX21. Whoa, heart says do it, wallet says no way!
Here is the solution to my dilemma, tilt the table, then tip the saw to get the table level again. A poor mans EX21!
Check out the picture and tell me what you think. I can tip it 45 degrees both ways.

That's using the ole noggin. Good one!!!
-
That works for me! You should put a patent on it.

DARN!!!! >:( Why didn't I think of that! ::) I LOVE your idea! :)
My saw is on the standard DeWalt stand so, in order to do that I would have to build another stand but, it just might be worth it.
I have made a lot of bowls and vases over the years and have always struggled with the "table tilt" and never once thought to do what you have done. :P I really like that. ;)
Keep thinking "Outside the lines".

I think I will use that concept on my "poker table" so the pot will always come my way!

Good idea GB But for me it looks lile the table only tilt East- west and my luck I would be on the North-South side of the table.
-
Rapid Roger, I also had my saw on the Dewalt stand. My new tilting stand seems to reduce the already low vibration of the DW788. Before if I scrolled at top speed, the saw would be shaking slightly. Now on this heavy stand, top speed is smooth.

billy just use a left handed floor jack ;D
-
King That ain't the kinda hardware I usually care to the poker table.
-
Now thats using the brainbox the way it should be used. excellent thinking - you sure you're not English?? lol

Great idea I bet a few members use that one

What a great idea! At least as long as the saw doesn't fall off. :o
I applaud your creativity.

billy as Bullwinkle said to rocky " nothing up my sleeve"

I have the saw bolted to the table, could saw upside down if I wanted but then the wood would fall off! ;D

Nice.
Did you consider mounting the saw by its table rather than by its feet?
-
I did consider that but I didn't think it was a good idea to hang the weight of the saw from the table mounts. It would also transfer any vibration to the table mounts. I did think about taking the table off entirely and mounting the rest off the saw on a new table with the saw frame pivoting. Looking at the dollar to benefit ratio and considering what I had on hand, I ended up using the K.I.S.S. engineering method.

What a neat idea!

What a good idea. I agree, cutting those rings at an angle gets old very fast. That is why I would love to buy the Ring Master.

The Ringmaster is a neat tool but is limited to round bowls, vases etc. With the scrollsaw you can do oblong, hearts, triangles and more.

WOW - that's just was to cool. You're a genius.

Either one of you can make me one anytime.
