This is the result of my last three days work (I'm not a fast cutter and need to stop quite often and walk about due to leg problems) Which colour of backer do you think looks best? I like the black one, but thought I would try the green one as one of these is for a friend in Ireland. all opinions and criticism welcomed.

I am not going to be much help because they both are stunning! Either one is just beautiful! Being that they are Irish and the plaque represents Ireland however, I suggest going with the green. You aren't going to lose either way though. Truly beautiful!
Sheila :)

I agree, both look fantastic. :)
-
I really like them both however the green is the one I would chose. Thanks for sharing them with us.

they are both great. Send your Irish friend the green cross and I will take the black one.
-
wow there great i would choose the green
-
I like them both. I believe you could put many different colors behind that cutting and it would still look great. The back does not detract form the excellent cutting
-
Great work!
-
Beautiful work, both look great, personally I prefer the black, thanks for asking our opinion.

They both are stunning, I would go with the green backer, both are great though.

Beautiful cutting Keefie. I like the green the best.

There is no color that could do justice to your awesome skill. Absolutely great work!
-
great job, both look awesome. find it hard to choose, but would say black.
-
Keith they are fantastic. Black, green, I would go with bleen , you cannot go wrong with either.
-
Beautiful cutting Keith! I asked the wife, she said the green looks more "Celtic", and I agree with her.
-
Fantastic Cutting!
Personal opinion...Green.
Great Work!!!

Looks GREAT.I'm going with the Green.
-
I think the black is richer looking. Or maybe a darker shade of green?
-
I vote for green. They are great!

Beautiful cutting Keith! I asked the wife, she said the green looks more "Celtic", and I agree with her
Dan did your wife make you say that or have you been married long enough to know better than not to disagree? ;D ;D ;D
-
Well King, my wife may not have a ten thousand dollar sewing machine, but I respect her enough to ask her opinion. Just like I will when you post a picture of one of your projects!

Hi Keefie, family decision:- It's got to be the GREEN one. It's going to Ireland after all. Beautiful work as usual. I would expect a BLUE background Keith. LOL.
Hope the knees hold up.
Rob Roy.
-
Well I have got some "blue" backer card Rob lol
-
They both look good but for me the green backer makes it stand out better can see the details pop with the green, might be since its a lighter color.
-
WOW they are stunning

Put my vote for the green backing also. And I'm with the others - great cutting.

They are stunning. Is the backing glued in or held in by the frame? Maybe send it to them with the black backing (every day is Guiness Day), but include the green backer board to be used only on St. Patrick's Day?
-
Those are awesome! However long it took was worth it.
I vote green too with the same Celtic/Ireland thought process but agree that maybe a deeper, risher green would look even better. Emerald green, you know?
-
They are both great and I would send the green one to Ireland but I must admit I do prefer the black one.

Keith I like the black one myself.. But, as others have stated green seems to fit Ireland... Just my thought... Sheila
-
Keith, whichever color you decide, they both are beautifully cut :)

A dark red would be splendid. LOL just kidding, but if you had that color I'd try it. Black or Green...both look decent. Black is so common I would probably go with green...assuming I didnt have red.
-
Black will go with anything. Green might clash with other colors in a room. I say black.
-
He Buddy.... Gee your Celtic Dragons look so Professional. I really was happy with
the way mine came out, but you got me beat by a mile. Great with Black. Ireland
buddy would like Green. You are a very Talented Scroller Kieth. Danny :+}

Can I ask what you do where one rope crosses over another (see picture below)? The lines look less dark than the actual fret cut areas - are these lines scored with a knife, or sawn with something, or are the lines drawn on the wood to give the look of the rope passing under?
-
EIEIO, these lines are all cut with an FD UR #1 blade - very carefully I might add lol. hope that helps.
Keith.
