Nice. Today I was listening to Sean Hannity (either you love him or you hate him). He had stats showing that more people have been killed by hammers and clubs than guns over the past few years. It was satire to suggest banning hammers, but a well made point.
-
we don't have this gun discussion in our country, so I'm not really to say something but I have to rock the boat a Little ;)
most people are killed by DUI car accidents.....
so bet they will banning cars and alcohol also?
-
Less than 1% of gun crimes occur in the US by registered gun owners. The bad guys have guns. They don't get them legally. If you take away the legal guns, the bad guys will still have them. I am curious about the countries that don't have their citizens armed. Don't the bad guys still get guns in your country?
-
I'm just waiting to see what is said here. The first cartoon really nailed it!

Me too. I really am curious about it. I would like to know how that works in countries that don't allow guns. What countries do and do not have them?
-
We don't have them here in the U.K. but the criminals still seem to get there hands on them.

This whole debate is not just about guns it is really about our Constitutional Rights, our fundamental rights given to us by our creator. OUr elected officials need to reread the oath of office they took and remember what it means. I have spent my entire adult life serving this country under oath to the Constitution and the actions of our elected officials just sickens me as an American.
I have guns in my home and my wife and I both have Concealed Pistol License and we act responsibly. When I go out in public my gun is not conceled so as not to frighten anyone, but more importantly to have a surprise for anyone that tries to cause harm to any human being in my sight. You see I dont just carry a gun for my protection and for my family but also for other law abiding citizens.
I dont like guns and I wish we lived in a world where we didnt need them. I wish we lived in a world where we didnt need a military. We dont live in that world though and I refuse to be a victim to some piece of scum and I refuse to standby and watch someone else become a victim to said scum. I pray to God that I never have to even pull my gun and show it to scare off someone let alone actually shoot someone and kill them.
The argument against "assault rifles" is one of the dumbest I have ever heard. No I dont need one, but moms dont need a 4500lb SUV to take one kid to school and soccer practice. Car accidents kill more people every year than guns.
An assault on our guns is an assault on our Constitutional Rights and every American should be outraged about it.
Sorry about the rant, but this is something that is very important to everyone not just gun owners.
-
Chief ... thank you for writing the truth. May GOD Bless America, and keep us safe from all enemies, foreign and domestic
-
As far as assault rifles go.....
I heard a comedian say "If you need a full automatic rifle and a hundred rounds of ammo to kill a deer or hit a target, you need to change hobbies!"
I kind of agree with him but, by the same token, I don't agree that American's should be restricted from owning anything they can afford or want.
My real thing is "We do not need any more laws at all. If we cant live by the original ten, we are in real trouble any way."

Assault weapon are already against the law. So only criminals have them. I carry a 10MM auto nearly always, concealed. No one really knows it is there. I had one attempted mugging and I still didn't need the gun. However, if someones starts to shoot into my crowd, he gets only one shot. I know how to use it and I have taught a lot of others how to use small arms. That is the secret.

After 34 years as a Leo I respected a person?s right to own and keep guns. After all of the crimes that I have seen and dealt with by those who committed the most heinous of crimes? Some of those who lost their life and those who lost love ones could have been avoided if they had some type of personal protection.
Inmates would ask me if I would shoot them if they tried to escape. Without a blink of an eye or the draw of a breath I told them "in a heartbeat"
One of my training officers stated it best ?I am a peaceful man. I am so peaceful that I am willing to kill to keep it". It may sound cruel but that was what I was hired to do. I have drawn my weapon numerous times but never had to discharge it.
-
Rog,
There actually is a good reason you need more than 10 bullets when hunting with an AR. In the South they are being over run by wild boars and in most states there is no limit on the number you can kill. In some states the standard AR caliber, .223, is illegal to hunt with. The AR platforn can be used all the way up to .50 cal rifle. They have conversions for numerous calibers probably the most popular is .308, a very common hunting caliber. Want to go to the shooting range and just plink at some targets just change a few parts and it fires .22 caliber.

I am trying to do my part! I teach a concealed carry class for a gun shop locally and also private classes. I coached 13 people saturday, 10 Sunday, and a private group of 3 today (Holiday so I was off work). Putting good guys with guns on the street to help stop the bad guys with guns! Florida now has over 1 million concealed carry permit holders and violent crime is dropping.
-
Well guys all I can say is, I sincerely hope you don't wind up the same as here in the UK. Namely all firearms banned and now, just shortly, here in Scotland we will have to have a license for any air weapon no matter what the muzzle velocity is. A permit for a BB gun?? I ask you. All we can have is a shotgun with a permit and you are only allowed only a three shot auto. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Well, I have guns in my house and I carry one in my truck when I am traveling. I will never give up my guns and hope I never have to use them to harm anyone, but, I will if necessary. If anyone comes to my home with the idea of me turning my guns in, I will use them. It is my constitutional right to and I will fight to keep that right. I really would not think that any federal agent would want to come down here in Texas to retrieve our guns?!!
-
King I wasn't a cop as long as you were, and fortunately never had to discharge my weapon though I did have to draw it a few times. Still think the riot gun saved more lives than it took, all you had to do was work that pump action and most people got religion! I loved that sound when I had to enter a store that had been broken into or the door left unlocked in the middle of the night.
I was just talking to one of our local Deputies today about concealed carry and confiscation, and he thought it will never happen, I hope he is right but it wasn't so long ago that a number of dictators did that very thing, it assures they don't have to worry about armed revolt in the event they want to expand their dictatorships. Make you think of anyone we know?
I was interested in his take on licensed carry as I've been going over the pros and cons of it. I was concerned about the information being released as it was recently by those well meaning newspaper people. ::)
Or how it could make my information available to the government in order for them to confiscate my firearms.
I asked his input and here is what he said. (Not verbatum.)
"You might as well get the permit it will help to prevent some of the hassles and if you have purchased or traded a firearm from a licensed dealer they already know who you are and where you live. So Go ahead and get the permit!" He convinced me! I was leaning that way anyhow but need just that little push. ;D
So as soon as the book keeper says I can have the money I'll be trotting down to the Sheriff's Office and plunk my money down! I could buy another nice used scrollsaw for the price. LOL $50 for the Sheriff and $15 to run my prints by the state police. Wow in 4 years it will only cost me $50 to renew. :o
The last thing you want to do is get into a shooting war about your second amendment "rights" all that will happen is you will either end up dead or in prison (dead would be preferable) and in doing so you would only give more ammunition to the anti gun lefties which would defeat the purpose of you fighting to the death for it. Fight them in court over the constitution rather than on your porch where your family will see your blood on the walk every day afterward.
Think about it, which is more likely to get favorable results?
Here is a link to a good video, it lists a bunch of Sheriffs who are standing up for our second ammendment rights.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHAbYbTjzxY&feature=endscreen&NR=1
Give it a look and if your Sheriff isn't there ask him why he isn't. Remember they are ELECTED!
Off my soapbox for now, just remember act responsibly and don't screw it up for the rest of us!!!!
Have you ever kissed a mules 4$$ ? You don't want to have to answer that question.
