Title: basement workshop finished
Post by: Dean A on November 23, 2012, 10:21:47 am
Hello,

I was able to build a workshop in my basement and I'm just about done. I have a few odds and ends to do yet, but I wanted to start doing projects to get a feel of the flow. So far so good. I still have to finish the trim on one of the benches and I want to box in the black pole. I'm also going to run a dedicated line to the dust collector.

All in all, I'm really happy with it. I also have a workshop in the garage where I keep the agressive machines (planer, table saw, router table), the shop in the basement should really be called a hobby shop.

 Whatcha think?

OK, I see two major problems. One, there is no sawdust anywhere, and two, there are too many horizontal surfaces. It's dangerous to work in a shop without any sawdust on the floor, and with all that flat space, you will accumulate more stuff and will be difficult to find anything! ::) ::)

But seriously, it is a very nice work area!

If I had a basement that had been converted, I would need to chat to "Bill the Diver" to borrow scuba gear with all the rain we have had in last few days lol

I cleaned it up before I shot the pictures. I did have so much clutter on the bench top that I couldn't even see the top.  ;D

Nice looking shop there Dean. Here in Florida it is very unusual to see a basement. Water table high and to much rain. It would be more like an indoor swimming pool. Now get to work LOL  ;)

Looks quite nice and functional.  Let's hope your DC efforts are sufficient.

DC is working great! At the longest run (drill press) the suction is still very strong. In fact when I'm drilling, the chips go up the hose so fast, I can't even see it.  :D
