I tried my first compound cut today. Got it all done with a lot of patience and prayer. Made an ornament. Well, It needed a bit of sanding, but looked good otherwise. Well the heartbreak happened when it slipped out of my hands and got a bit broken on my sander. Was so happy with it, but guess that is just another lesson on cutting. =(

Wood glue is your friend! I've re-attached a few broken parts that you would never know were broken after glued them, and applied a finish..

The problem is the piece that broke off was about 1/4 of an inch long and it got shredded in the sander as quick as it broke off. So this piece isnt repairable.
The shelf of shame sounds more like my kind of thing. Need something to keep me humble.

Shelf of shame? In my case it should be a shed of shame, or maybe even a warehouse of shame! Okay, maybe not THAT bad! But still, Troy, we've all been there! You might be surprised how far a mop sander will chuck a piece of wood... and how hard that piece of wood will smash against the back wall of the shed, shattering into so many pieces you can't find them all...or so I've heard! ::) ::) ::)

That's the way it goes. I could easily fill a trash can or two from my mistakes. Bobby

:D As I say, I never make mistakes unless I am alone or with someone. And I never tell a fib unless my lips are moving. ::)
Seriously folks I have a 20 inch fan with filter blowing away from the mop sander. This sits up on a box . I have an old towel under the fan draped towords me, It catches a lot of the "fly aways". Hope this is understandable.

Not the first time I've fired a piece through the shop window. Moved the sander now of course, glass was getting expensive. :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o.

i found out the hard way (on my belt sander) how not to launch a new product. ;D ::)

I have launched a couple of pieces with the sander both unrepairable. We all do it unfortunately
