Want to say hello. I have been reading some of the post and they have been very helpful. I recently purchased my 1st scroll saw (porter Cable) from Lowes. I read numerous reviews on different saws and landed with this one. I have been playing with it daily to get myself familiar with the machine. I made some minor changes over the last week after reading those who seem to be unhappy with their saw.
The main reason for my selection was price even though I would like to get a better on down the road, but need to also keep my wife happy. Yet I do not see the comparison to her $10k sewing machine and my table saw and scroll saw. I do get to play with the sewing machine.
I changed the set screw around to make them work for me. The large thumb screw on the top arm I placed on the bottom and the set screw on the bottom was removed and the thumb screw on the hold down replaced on the top arm. Woks great and allows my gorilla paws work better.
For tacky spray for my patterns I am using my wife?s tacky spray for embroidering. 101 or 505 spray. it is a little cashy.
I have been using the xmas ornaments for practice. I have made several goofs but i am getting better. I do not throw them away, I paint them and put glitter on them and give them to the neighbor girl. She thinks they are great. :)

Hi King and welcome to the forum. Glad you found us. I'm Julie from Texas. The PC is the best in it's class and you will get plenty of use out of it. The wife may want to give it a shot. If you can sew - you can scroll. My situation is just the opposite. I have a $200.00 sewing machine and a $800.00 scroll saw. I quilt. She will come around after seeing the things you can create with what you've got. Have fun.
