Title: Blown away
Post by: wombatie on September 26, 2012, 02:52:23 am
I entered my cutting of Malbry Mill into The Royal Melbourne Show and guess what.........I CAME SECOND.  There were quite a few entries in the wood work section and I CAME SECOND.  I am absolutely blown away, I can't get the grin off my face.  I CAME SECOND.  Yippeeeeeeeee

I just had to scan an old photo, I seem to have lost the photo of the actual cutting I did for the show but this one is the same. Now all I have to do is cross my fingers that this works.

Marg     (Yippeeee it worked)

I can't see how you managed to get second place with that piece - It should have taken FIRST place, it's beautifull.

WHOW!!  :o     That is a lot of empty space! It looks like it could fall apart at any second!
Beautiful cutting, I would give it a first place and not even care what the other one looked like.
How did you attach it to the back ground?

Rog

It was 22.5 hours of cutting.  My very first one that I cut a long time ago, I broke on the roof of the barn, so now I ALWAYS start with the hardest part first and I never drill all of the holes I do them as I go along that way if it breaks I still have wood I can use for something else.  I only used thick black paper as the backing and put it in the frame to make it secure.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments I really do appreciate them.  :-*

Wow
That looks like a ton of detailed work, and a beautiful subject.
Be sure and save it Marg along with the ribbon and hang it on your wall.
Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D  4 grins.
