Marion (Marmoh) and I have been experimenting with overlayed fretwork. The Tiger pattern was originally made by Grampa (Paul), Pabreu, over at free4allscrollsawpatterns,made the Cowgirl pattern. I redesigned the patterns a bit to be able to cut the overlays out separately, Marion did the actual work of cutting and completing the projects.
We both would love to hear what you guy's and gal's think about this concept of overlaying shaped pieces on to an existing fretwork pattern.
Thanks
Marion and Bob

Excellent work on those. I like the idea of the layers. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Nice job to both Bob and Marion!

I like the layers, sort of a combination of fretwork and instaria. There was an article in one of the magazines a while back that discussed carving fretwork. It is an interesting idea.
since you asked for opinions, I think the ledge is a little bold in the tiger pattern. My attention is drawn to the ledge and I was trying to figure out what it was. If it wasn't such a bold, beautiful piece of wood, it would be easier to see the tiger.
These are really awesome pieces, You should continue to explore the idea.

y love the tiger ,beautiful work

Yes, those are nicely done. You two are a good team.
I would definitely have to agree with mrsn on her post about the tiger picture. Am embarrassed to say I did not realize that was a ledge under the tiger until she pointed that out. :-[ Perhaps it looks different in person.
I like the rope effect around the cowgirl. I have tried that on some projects, but it never comes out as neat as yours.
Please keep showing your experiments. I'm learning things from your posts.

Very nicely done. I do have to agree with MRSN and say the tiger takes a back seat in the work, I would like to have more emphasis on the tiger.
Thanks for sharing this idea with us, fine idea it is.
