Title: A Wedding Gift
Post by: troy_curtis on July 10, 2012, 12:47:04 am
I made this one for my wife's cousin. She is getting married later this month. The tricky part was finding the right candle holders. I went to 12 stores before I finally found a set that would fit the base. It was at Hobby Lobby. This project is made with soft maple 1/2 in with a 3/4 in tropical walnut for the back and base. For the picture I just set the project up as it will look. I still need to add the finish and glue it together.

That will make a wonderful wedding gift Troy!
As a long time woodworker I learned my lesson a long time ago...Always have your hardware before starting your project!

Thanks for the good comments and support. The project finished nicely and is ready to be given when the wedding comes. Now I just need to find time and finish my intarsia lighthouse project. It is coming along nice as well...but slow in the finishing.

Well the gift went over very well at the wedding. The whole family couldn't believe I had made it. The bride and groom loved it and stated they have the perfect place on a fireplace mantel. My hobby has given someone else happiness. Thanks for the comments and support you all have given.
