Pattern Requests. / help wanted
« on: April 25, 2012, 02:29:35 pm »
Hi all.

A friend asked me if i could make a rice bird intarsia for him.
No problem, if i would have a pattern for it.

I have a few nice pictures of the birds, but i just don't know how to transform them into a pattern.
Does someone know how to convert a picture into a pattern?

Thanks.
Glenn, Belgium

General Scroll Saw Talk / One happy scroller
« on: January 30, 2012, 01:54:53 pm »
Hi all

After many months of saving money like mad, and another month waiting after the order i finally got my EX21 today.
I cleaned up my other scrollsaw, and put it aside as a piece of antique now.
My first saw served me well for more then 10 years, it was a cheap, simple, pinned blade saw.
But now i'm the happy owner of a EX 21....
I love it, and now my wife won't be bothered by me anymore...

Time to let the sawdust fly in my lil' barn.

Greeting all

Glenn, the happiest scroller from Belgium.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Thank you
« on: October 31, 2011, 09:40:01 am »
I just want to thank Steve Good for this fantastic website.
It just makes scrolling more fun then it already is.

The things i've learned here, and the info i can get here is more then i will ever find in all the  books about scrolling.

Also thanks to all of you guys and girls here.
If someone has a question or a problem, there will always be someone with a solution.
Everyone just jumps in to solve someone elses problem.
That's great!!

It's just like one big international scroll family.

So thank you Steve and thank you all. :)

Greetings Glenn, Belgium.

General Scroll Saw Talk / spiral drawing
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:33:56 pm »
I have a few ideas for collapsing baskets, but the problem is to draw out the spiral.
Does anyone have a system so i can draw a spiral the size i want.
I want to draw in different sizes, also round, oval, or heart shaped.

General Scroll Saw Talk / masking tape
« on: October 01, 2011, 04:41:10 pm »
Hi all,
It's stupid question time i'm afraid.

I've seen a few people here that use masking tape to glue a pattern on.
Some were talking about the blue masking tape.
I found in the D.I.Y. shop two types.
Blue and brown.
The brown one is much cheaper then the blue tape.
Does anyone know what's the difference between these two, and why is it you guys use the blue masking tape.
Is there any reason for it?

Greetings Glenn.

General Scroll Saw Talk / New machine
« on: September 05, 2011, 02:10:26 pm »
Hi all
I have to get it of my chest.
Last weekend i bought myself a brandnew scrollsaw, a Einhell.
I specially bought a type for frequent use... about 170 euro's.

I started very happy and it worked well.
Untill just now .
I was making a "masterpiece"  ;) and all of a sudden it started to make a loud noise.
Sort of rattling, a metal to metal sound.

I quickly turned it of, and stopped scrolling.

It's new so there is a warranty on it, but still..... :'(
Now it will take till the weekend before i can return it to the store, and i'm out of machine for a few days.
I hope i don't get fever or something like a drug addict gets going cold turkey.
In the mean time i'll keep myself busy reading all the thing you guys (and girls) writing down here.

Regards Glenn

Introduce Yourself. / Hello from Belgium
« on: September 04, 2011, 08:39:46 am »
Hi all,

My name is Glenn and i'm from Belgium.
I'm 45 and married with Laura.
I've always been busy with woodworking, but since a few months i'm spend more time with my scrollsaw.
My old one gave up doing what it was supposed to do, so i had a very good reason to buy a new one.
I gave a Einhell scrollsaw as a present to myself and i like it a lot.
Now i have a good machine, i have some wood in my shop, the only thing is to train my skills.
But that will come, once... maybe later... a lot later...who knows.

One thing is for sure, i found myself a hobby that's fun to do.
And to me that's more important then deliver a masterpiece.

Greetings from Glenn.
