I've had a very hard week with my daughter, her hubby and the grandkids visiting - but I survived - just!!!!

I've just finished cutting a Horse Head pattern for a friend in Northern Ireland who keeps horses. My thanks go to John Hall ( The Wooden Wizard ) for the pattern. It's made from 4mm birch ply, and will be finished with a BLO/mineral oil before having 2 coats of lacquer put on . Hope you like it.

According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington recently was faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints. Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day, the girls would put them back.
Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night. To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required to clean the mirrors.
He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
There are teachers, and then there are educators...

General Scroll Saw Talk / Thien Cyclone

Further to Steves email about buying a cyclone lid to fit a plastic dustbin, I made my own one from information I got at this website : http://www.jpthien.com/cy.htm
It works in a similar way, but it has a baffle plate built in just below the inlet elbow so the cyclone formed is stronger and the debris drops through the slot cut in the side of the baffle also there is less chance of the debris being sucked into the outlet pipe and going to your extractor. there is also a video of it working on the website too.(the first part of video is bit boring as it only picking up the debris, but then it shows the dust extractor container empty , then shows the cyclone with all the debris in it.)

Well I just about managed to get back in the workshop after my back troubles, it still hurts but I managed to cut another wedding plaque that had been ordered. I'd like to thank the pattern maker, but the only ID on the pattern is "WWS" so thank you wws for the pattern, it's a beauty.

A Man was sitting quietly reading his paper when his wife walked up behind him and whacked him on the head with a magazine.
?What was that for?? he asked.
?That was for the piece of paper in your pocket with the name Laura Lou written on it,? she replied.
Two weeks ago when I went to the races, Laura Lou was the name of one of the horses I bet on,? he explained.
?Oh honey, I?m sorry,? she said. ?I should have known there was a good explanation ?
Three days later he was watching a football on TV when she walked up and hit him on the head again, this time with the frying pan, which knocked him out cold.
When he came to, he asked, ?What the hell was that for??
She replied?
?Your horse called.?
?What was that for?? he asked.

Brag Forum / Moose finished

I liked the moose that DW and danny made earlier, so I made my own one. here are some pictures. It's made from Iroko with pine for the antlers. It was cut mainly with an FD UR #5 blade and an FD UR #1 blade for the ears & tail. It has been finished with 2 coats of celulose sanding sealer followed by 2 coats of spray lacquer.
