I use plane and find its fine or I use native wood if I have suitable scraps, I do not oil them as it washes out

Doesn’t matter how you prefer the foot switch as if you didnt have one you would use the hand switch, the foot switch is a matter of convenience, I like it because both my hands are free

I have had no trouble with saw clams on the Ex it has been the main bearings that have been the problem, I use a tool to tighten the clamp

I still use the Excalibur as it is the only half decent saw you can buy down under
, I'm on my second one as the first gave me no end of trouble, this one has been going 3 years and has been trouble free so far
