Pattern Requests. / Picture of my Boss I would like to convert to a pattern
« on: February 23, 2017, 02:26:10 am »
I have a picture of my boss that I would like to convert into a pattern and also use it on his website as an Icon/logo.   He likes to sing Elvis music and is pretty good at it.

Pattern Requests. / Need a little help with a pattern
« on: March 03, 2014, 12:37:57 pm »
First off, the image below is legal, it was custom drawn for my cousin so no problem with me working with it.

I have a cousin who is a PhD Doctor that I want to convert this image to something scrolled.  Problem is I dont know if I want to do a fret or do it segmented.  I would like to see what you guys can do with the fret and if it is possible.

What I think would work best is scrolling out the inside lines cutting out the pattern and painting the colors on with acrylics. As you can see the eyes and face would take a bit of line magic to make it scrollable into one piece rather than segmented.

I have a full project drawn in Paint.net and have most of it worked out in the head.

Thanks Guys!

I was working on a project in Paint.net and after I got my pattern the way I wanted it I started looking at it and wondering what it would look like with this kind of wood and that kind of backing.

It got me to thinking so Im here asking, Is there a wood color pallet program or even a decent BMP/GIF/JPEG that represents the different wood color ranges like say Aspen, Walnut, Maple, etc that I could use to get an idea of what this wood and that wood would look like with my pattern?

Someone has got to have developed a Photoshop plug in or app that will take the guess work out of just finding a color that "looks like wood"?

And yup I will be cross forum posting this to see if any of the artists have a solution for this and will share if I find one.

Pattern Requests. / Need help with a tough Portrait Pattern Please!
« on: January 23, 2014, 05:00:01 am »
I have two pictures I need to see if you can convert to a pattern, the first is old and the lighting is tough with the background.  The second not as bad lighting but both old.

The first is of my aunt who just passed, the second is her and my mother on her wedding day.  I would like to try to cut one of them to give to my uncle.
Im still new at scrolling so too complicated a detail will be rough for me to cut.

Any help you can give me I would deeply appreciate it!

Thanks

Walter

PS.  Thank you to everyone that assisted on this project!

I big shout out to Ray(EIEIO) His picture is the one they chose and I will add a copy of the finished project.

You helped to make my 80+ year old uncle very happy in this time of grief.   Thank you so much!

Pattern Requests. / simple arrowhead pattern
« on: July 15, 2013, 05:41:45 am »
OK Im still new at this and learning the ropes.  Also I cant draw a game of hangman without it looking like spaghetti on the floor...

I have some scrap pieces of pine and such that are a bit thicker than 1/2" that I was wanting to use to make a few arrowhead refridge magnets out of to both practice my cutting skills and also play around with shaping with my sanding equipment to get the feel of what I can and cant do shaping... (NO you are not going to get me into Intarsia!  ;D) Im getting tired of cutting kittens, puppies, pigs, ducks, etc!

Problem is I cant seem to find anything with a simple shape but that I can sand down to look more real, like flint arrowheads and such.

Does anyone have an arrowhead pattern they can post, Please??

Thanks!  :)

I'm about to have a new DW788 arrive and I have seen some comments elsewhere about Waxing my table top?

Should I, and if so, what do you recommend?

Thanks... And Yeah I'm so excited you would think I'm 8 years old (again) and today was December 23!  ::)

Introduce Yourself. / New guy from NW Florida
« on: May 27, 2013, 02:19:43 pm »
Howdy guys!  I finally got off my duff and registered!   Im just another new scroller.

At the moment I have a Boat Anchor / Future Fishing Reef of a scroll saw so I have been doing all the reading I can until I can get my DW788  ::)

(I hold Steve responsible for the DeWalt decision!)  I was on the fence about going with something cheaper, but after the frustrations in trying to find parts for a Chinese made saw sold by a company in Australia that has gotten out of the SS business several years back, I wanted something that I know will hold its value and has a good parts supply/repair chain available.  So.. by the first of the month I should be ordering my new saw!

Im stuck here in the armpit of Florida trying to stay cool until the fall and slowly trying to build up a home scroll saw hobby workshop and keep the cat out of the blades!
