I used a block of wood until I got my easy lift.  A pain but it worked!

Glass resists most glue - I have good luck with Goop.  I will try the E6000 too.  Thanks for all the great comments.

It looks really nice.  I found it easier to make straight cuts by using a larger blade for them.  They don't wander so much.
Keep up the good work.

The thumb screw that held the "hold down" clamp might work for you too.  Good Luck

When you use BLO do you have any trouble getting the backer board to adhere?  What do you use for glue?

I love it and it should sell well.  I would suggest that you cut the base the other direction so the end grain does not show.

When I open a dozen blades, I clean both ends with mineral spirits.  It really works well.  If you use blades pretty slow, you might want to clean just a few at a time so they don't rust.

Sometimes I scroll away forgetting about the blade.  When the piece does not slide out both to the top and the bottom, I know it is starting to get dull.  When I do the final cut around the piece I want it to be 90 degrees.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Selling our beautiful items
« on: December 17, 2012, 07:46:31 pm »
Several times I have been able to take my wood items to sell at the bowling alley and at church events (ladies groups etc.) even in my Sunday school class.   I have had good luck doing these sales around holidays.  My husband helps man the table.  I have made more sales in a morning being the only vendor than I have made at 3 day shows. These buyers often call for more items.
I sometimes take items when we go out for breakfast. It is so nice to come home with a little handful of checks and I let my husband have some $$too.

On my long cuts, I have better luck if I RELAX and not push too hard.  It also helps me to start and stop a little as I push and relax.  Just push, hesitate and so on.  Hope it works for you too.

Never used the Levi material - will try it.  But - - brown paper bag works miracles.
