Title: Stain keeper
Post by: Chachi on March 08, 2011, 12:02:22 am
If you have a small shop like I do then you are hard pressed for space so here is a tip for the small shop owners when you stain you don't really have alot of room to do the staining and so you need a way to do it with out the stain going everywhere on your desktop so go to your local dollar store and buy yourself a paint roller tray you can set your project in th tray and stain away wipe it off and  let it set when your done clean up and put it away for the next project. Keeps my shop work area clean and I don't need to worry about setting time because it is safe in the tray no Mess while I wait.

Can also use the thin, disposable aluminum trays, and pans for cooking. For small projects, use the frozen pie tins. Eat the pie first!  ;D

I use the styrofoam meat trays for dipping my pieces in Danish Oil.

You do have to be careful or you could have a big mess, some of the solvents used in paints and stains could disolve the foam. When in doubt daub a little on the foam and wait a little while you'll see the results pretty quick.
