Curious if there are any scrollers in the Montrose/Delta and surrounding areas?

Please, leave a note and let me know where you are and if you would like to meet at some time.

Pattern Requests. / Welcome Chicken Sign
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:29:39 pm »
Greetings one and all,

I had (I thought) a welcome sign pattern with the word "WELCOME" in a normal looking position and on the right side of the sign is a chicken (not sure if it was a hen or a rooster) that stood taller than the "welcome" portion, and the chicken was facing to the left as you viewed the sign.  I have looked through my computers, and I have tried to go all the way through the patterns here and the workshop.

If anyone familiar with this sign, and if it is in the public domain, could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks, and may all have a decent day, and please - don't forget to vote next Tuesday.

I liked the ideas, so I cut them.  The wood is Oak, and runs about .800 inches thick.  The photo is not the greatest, but all I had was the phone.  Have a decent day.

Pattern Requests. / Square Dancing
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:51:14 pm »
I just looked through the patterns here, and I was unable to spot one dealing with Square Dancing.

Does anyone have a pattern dealing with this subject they are willing and able to share?

I appreciate your time and consideration.

Toy Makers / For the Grandkids - patterns
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:25:18 am »
Ok folks, going to give this one a try.  I have the patterns, just not sure how to get them here, but .......

These images are all roughly 2.5 inches wide/tall with some variations.  If the pages print correctly, you will notice a set of horizontal and vertical lines running through the images - these lines should print as well and will assist in placing the cut blocks on a grid pattern on your plate (or piece of wood to place the shapes).

I cut the blocks (shapes) from 3/4 or slightly thicker wood and left the pattern on the block after doing some initial sanding.  Leaving the pattern on provides these placement lines for the grid.

I cut my plate to approximately 12" x 12", running between 1/4" and 1/2" thick, and ran grid lines horizontal and vertical - equally spaced, or in this case at three inch intervals.  After getting the plate prepared, I placed the blocks with the lines on the plate (random placement on my part, but did play with them for appearance) and drew the outline of the blocks onto the plate.  Off to the scroll saw and cut out the shapes.  I used a fairly small blade and stayed on the line.  Worked for me.

If the block is slightly tight in the plate - you may either sand the block if the shape permits or sand the plate to accommodate.

If you have questions - throw them at me and I will attempt an alternative explanation.

Happy Cutting and have a decent day.

I notice the patterns do not appear, however, they are at the bottom of this post.

These should open using Adobe - when you go to print, select the "fit" option, should work well for printing.  Thanks Dunk.

Ray (EIEIO) gave me the idea for this one, so I gave it a go (Thanks Ray).  I grabbed a couple of chunks of pine 2X4, resawed in half, cut the blocks, sanded and painted with acrylic paint.  The backboard is a leftover piece of oak (I think), and another partial piece of a backing style board.  The dimensions are roughly 12" X 12" for the whole assembly, with each block being 2.5" X 2.5".  For the layout, I measured and drew lines similar to a Tic-Tac-Toe board and tried to center the blocks thereon.

Let me know what your thoughts are - ways to improve (other than pitching it into the woodburner).

Thanks for taking and look and have a decent day.

The Cat.

Cut out of plain 1/8" walnut, backed with gray paper; frame is cherry and is BLO/MS treated; the stand is also plain untreated walnut.

The recipient likes natural wood, and I thought the treated cherry would be just a touch better.

I welcome comments - constructive or otherwise.

Thanks for taking a look and have a decent day.
