Well done- Love looking at the bikes you do
Looks like you are starting to find a good supply of various hardwoods over there

Check for Hardwood suppliers in your area. I am able to buy All North American hardwoods & exotic hardwoods locally within about 40 minute drive from Winston Salem NC. I actually don't buy much off the internet but the internet has a lot of wood suppliers for Intarsia

Believe it or not I can do more than Intarsia. This is the butterfly Fretwork Cross that I finished this week for my wife & daughter. Older pattern for Timber Lace, designed by Julia Meader

I use basswood, aspen or the white wood from aromatic Cedar. If you can't find that look for a Glaze from General Finish called "winter white"

My wood stock is primarily 1" thick which is what I like. 1" gives me more options when it comes to creating depth in the piece.
See the Harvest Moon that I just posted. everything started at 1" except for the Moon which was 3/8", I added a 1/4 shims to several areas to add more depth.
If you are just starting out I recommend 3/4" because you can find that fairly easy

I been very busy with work and haven't been able to get my shop projects completed but being stuck at home sense Thursday afternoon due to the snow & ice, I was able to take advantage of some needed shop time. Finished one piece & close to finishing a second piece.
This is the Harvest Moon designed by Bruce Worthington.
Woods: Ambrosia Maple, Cherry, Brazilian Cherry, Beech, Lace Wood, Zebra Wood, Walnut, red oak, Ash, popular, Peru Amarillo & yellow pine (Pine is dyed orange)
