Bible holder
« on: August 18, 2010, 10:10:51 pm »
I am looking for a pattern for a bible holder.  Made in two parts that slips into each other so open it spreads out and holds a book. But slips together to lay flat.  I hope I made it plain enough to understand what I am thinking about.

Hi Judy,Is this the sort of thing your after, you will have to cut the slots the size of the wood you are useing, never made a pattern for anything like this before but it should work........Paul ;D

No hinges Janet but I think grampa's idea might work.
Thanks Grampa.

I like it Grampa, had to think about how it would work a bit but saw the idea and as Judy said I think it will work.

Is it something like this on Sue Mey's site??

Or...you could always use Steve's plan...and just enlarge it on a copy machine.

I'm thinking you are looking for something that holds the bible to read it?  Or is it a storage box?

I printed out the pattern that grandpa posted and compared it to a Bible holder I have. It was much smaller. I re-sized the picture and changed the graphic. I hope you don't mind grandpa and if you do I will delete the pictures. I printed out the pattern and it is still a little smaller than the one I have. The only way I see it working is if the cut where they go together is angled at a 45?.

ok this is going to be bad but as you knoe my hands don;'t work so good.  I know what grampa has in mind and it would work but what I was originally thinking was like this bad drawing.  A long time ago, I made a patio chair with this method  it was slats that one half fitted into the other.

That is the way grampa design would look when assembled. I don't think you would have to cut the slots on an angle. As long as the wood was 1/4" or thicker it should work.   8)

Yep this one is on my brain burner.  I am going to design it with fretwork/scrolley type stuff instead of pictures.

I think if you cut the slots where they go together a little wide it should work. The wider te the slots the more flat it will lie. My 2 cents. Bobby

Dear Judy: I liked the pattern that you sent and I took the dare to do so, but the image is too small to calarla in its original size, for this reason combined it with depth and pyrography, I hope not bother you like plus the idea of combining ... greetings from Puebla, Mexico
