Introduce Yourself. / Hello from Arkansas!

I'm a brand new scroller.  I purchased a used Hawk 226 vs. off Craig's list Tuesday. It looks brand new and is very smooth.  So far I'm really enjoying it!!  I have so many question I don't know where to start.  But for tonight I just wanted to introduce myself and read a lot of the questions already asked in the forum.  Looking forward to being able to make my kids and grandkids some neat presents. ( I hope you can teach an old dog new tricks)

Ask Steve a question. / scroll saw speed

I am new to the scroll saw.  Can anyone tell me is there a general rule for saw speed in relation to blade size and wood thickness? Is it different for soft/hard wood?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.
