Ask Steve a question. / Re: LED Lighted

It appears the top piece (page 9) would be 1/4" hardwood.  The bottom piece on the same page is 1" thick hardwood as well.

It does appear the top piece is required to make the acrylic stand up straight.

If you have a band saw you could do this out of one piece of hardwood 1 5/16" thick.  You would cut off the top part at 1/4" then proceed with the rest of the instructions.  By gluing the top back on and sanding the edges, you could make it look like it was one piece of wood only!

I hope that helps.

I looked at the saw on Amazon (only a few dollars more) and it looks okay.  Regarding the pin less capacity it appears you have attachment blocks which hook onto the metal blade holders.  I would think the lower attachment may fall off when changing blades.  That's just what I see in the User's Guide available on the Amazon listing.

The ability to change the direction of the blade is an interesting feature.

Here is Steve's look at the saw in Dec. 2019 if you haven't seen it:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HjJTt1qpL8

One way to do it is to have a small block of wood in the back of the two pieces to hold it while the glue sets up.  The block of wood would be 90 degrees and you could clamp the two pieces to it while the glue dries.  I would place wax paper between the block and the pieces so glue doesn't stick to the block.

I can't tell you how scary that looks to cut out!  What about hour 29:58 and you make a little mistake?  Like cutting through something?  Not something I will ever attempt.

It is good looking and you are to be commended!

Well done!

Didn't realize just how big it is until seeing it beside the trash bin!
