The air nozzle of my DW788 has stopped blowing air out toward the saw table. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
The diagram of the saw shows no pump of any sort--just bellows that are covered with a metal cap and the nozzle comes out of that metal.

Hey Jim, The bellows is what creates the air. If it's not blowing air, it is either plugged or has a hole in it. You probably need to replace the bellows. Good luck!

Now that I look at the diagram again, it makes sense to me that the bellows pump the air, and not an actual pump motor like I was thinking.

Yup, I just set up a vacuum system connected to my dust collector. I have the air blower tube directed at the vacuum hose.

Or you can dismount the bellow and install a fish tank pump. The saw runs smoother and the air pressure is constant - also when the saw is not running.
Smallest fish tank pump is just right, you don't want to create a tornado.

Why not connect the blower to the vacuum hose? It collects as easy as it blows. Here is a couple of examples on the two I have.

Well for me Chuck, I am using a dust collector. reducing the air flow down to those 1/4" hoses would restrict the air flow or suction down to nothing. Plus a dust collector is much quieter than a shop vac! I will post some pictures tomorrow of what I have done.

I just got the nozzle blowing air again. Thanks Dan.
My imperial hex keys wouldn't remove the screws from the cover, so I thought they were metric instead. I had to buy a set....which included a set of torque keys as well. I'm glad, because it was the torque keys I really needed.
I removed the bellows, cleaned it out, reassembled the unit, and the air blows again.

on mine the dewalt air nozzle falls off and it makes me angry. You won't like me when i get angry >:(.

I had a similar problem recently and it turned out that I had a small crack where the nozzle attached to the machine. A little stupid glue and the problem was fixed!

Chuck I like the looks of the set up on the Hegner, looks like you are collecting it both ways top and bottom.
Still like my set up, a 10 inch fan blowing right to left keeps me cool and since I'm outside the dust just drifts away! LOL

I took a small 2 inch plastic muffin fan out of an old PC hung it with # 10 copper wire off the arm of the saw.I can adjust it to blow dust away from and to the back of the work,works much better than original bellows.Also was a great re cycle price ;)

My blower tube also has also started falling off; Stupid Glue ?
