General Scroll Saw Talk / Boiled linseed oil question
« on: June 25, 2011, 03:47:26 pm »
I bought some boiled linseed oil to mix with mineral spirits and use on a project.
How long do I need to wait for it to dry before I can put on a coat of spray lacquer?
Or does it depend if I soak it or rub it on.
Im using it on birds eye maple.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Lemon oiled wood drying time
« on: April 28, 2011, 08:59:58 pm »
I want to apply lemon oil on a wood backer then use carpenters glue, and glue the cut out to it.
Is a few days of drying time for the lemon oil, enough time to glue on the cut out?
Hope this makes sense.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Excalibur saw nozzle tip
« on: April 22, 2011, 10:36:45 pm »
I have recently bought the EX 16 scroll saw  and changed the nozzle to exit  the right side of the machine.
Just remove the two screws from the plate where the nozzle go?s into the machine and flip it around to the other side  ( same side as the blade tightening screws ) Hope this helps.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Printing portrait patterns
« on: April 14, 2011, 12:01:14 am »
I was thinking about doing a portrait pattern and wondered how to print it if it is larger than 8.5x11''.
Will the printer print it in two pages?
Also are most patterns larger than that size?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Lemon oil
« on: April 05, 2011, 12:47:23 pm »
I did a small project and dipped it in lemon oil for a few minutes and removed the excess oil.
Wondered how long to leave it to dry before I put a clear spray finnish on it.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Crown tooth blades
« on: March 29, 2011, 01:27:33 pm »
Im using the No. 2 crown tooth blade 20TPI on 1/4" walnut with two layers each way of packing tape= 4 layers.
Is this too much tape and
I cant see my cutting line because the sawdust covers my line even with the blower that works.
Should I use a different type of blade?
