Another technique I use is to cut across the  wood in the direction of the grain and then glue back together with a little CA.

That had crossed my mind, Don, too.  Many thanks for all your helpful advice and suggestions.  Now I can get started.  :)

Glad i have the shop and the local lumber yard offers free delivery.
Wow!  That's a great arrangement, Norm, congrats!

Yes, it's great to be in the shop with no other distractions.  I keep fairly busy with various events throughout the week, (tennis, bowling, church, community choir, cards with the Girls, and sometimes Hubby and 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses) and being able to just focus on the woodwork is not bad at all...though the sawdust will probably get me long before any virus  ;D

Y'all stay well!

Another question on the Clover Basket http://www.stevedgood.com/sawbasket.pdf, AKA "Stacked Ring Basket".

I'm not seeing any marks that designate starter holes in the rings to begin my cuts.  Usually there's instructions on the pattern for small entry holes for a starting place, such as this stacked basket http://www.stevedgood.com/2018stackedbasket.pdf.

I can pick any spot and figure it out, I'm sure, but I was just afraid I was missing something.  Anyone else done this pattern and just "dive in" :D  or is there some other step I'm not seeing?

Thanks.

Hey, Gramps and hardkore, thank you!  Please forgive, I just now saw your replies-only 3 months later- :-[ sigh.  What a cute pattern!  Very kind of you all to write.

Unfortunately, not too lively.  I have the same issue as Bucko, I think, as I can't seem to get pictures uploaded on here, either...but I do look in on it regularly.

Nice work, Spirithorse.  Looks like the real thing.  I was ready to pick up and play... ;)

Loved "rearrange my clutter" comment, GLC.  That could be a sign in my shop somewhere.

Yes, space is definitely an issue.  Unfortunately, the more you have the more you need... ;D

...have a box or section of their workshop where they store all the "shoulda beens"?

When you cut and almost complete a nice piece and then a part breaks, or you drill a hole through it trying to put on a hanger, or find some blemish you didn't notice earlier, or it warped, or something that makes it not really fine enough to put in a sale or give as a gift, what do you do with it?

Do you mend it before you go on to your next project or does it go into storage or fireplace?

It's so hard for me to just toss a fine piece of nice wood I spent some time, money and sanding on.  So I put it aside in a pile thinking I will return and mend it another day.  Unfortunately, that pile is getting bigger!

That is really nice!  I have horses, would you adopt me and make me a sign?   ;)

Well done.  I'm sure it will be really appreciated.

Nice, Marshall!

And you're right, the little scenes are big work!  I made a couple last year.  Painted the last layer dark blue so it would appear the whole scene against a night sky on one of them.

Congrats on your ribbon!
