« on: August 13, 2012, 06:52:50 pm »
Lena is pregnant with Ole's child.

Late one night, Lena vakes Ole and says, 'I tink it's time!'

So Ole fired up the Yohn Deere tractor and took her to the hospital to
 have  their first baby.

She had a little boy, and the doctor looked over at Ole and said, 'A
 son!
Ain't dat Great!' Well, Ole got excited by dis, but yust den the doctor
 spoke up and said,

'Hold on! We ain't finished yet!' The doctor den held up a little girl..
He  said, 'Hey, Ole! You got you a daughter!' She's a pretty little ting,
 too.'

Ole got kind of puzzled by this, an then the doctor said, 'Holey Moley,
 Ole
we still ain't done yet!' The doctor then delivered another boy and
 said,
Ole, you yust had yourself another boy!'

Ole was flabbergasted by this news!

A couple days later, Ole brought Lena and their three Children home in
the self-propelled combine. He was real Serious and he asked Lena , 'How
come we  got tree on the first try?'

Lena said, 'You remember dat night we ran out of Vaseline and

You vent out in the garage and got dat dere 3-in-1 Oil?'

Ole said, 'Yeah, I do..  It's a dam good ting I didn't get the

General Scroll Saw Talk / Boiled Linseed Oil- Mineral Spirits Problem
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:54:19 pm »
recently started using a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits for some finishing.  The mineral spirits is low odor. The pieces I am finishing are small ornaments so I give them a quick dip, then drain and after about 10 or so minuets wipe off all the excess. I then leave them for 24 hours. The last two batches I sprayed with clear lacquer.  The lacquer dries after about 10- 15 minutes. For some unknown reason, the pieces stay sticky for a few days( 5-6 days. When I say sticky, not so bad that they will stick to your finger but enough to be able to feel it. Anything I need to change or do.  This is my first try at the BLO mix and so far I am not happy with it.

The Coffee Shop / Giving Credit for Patterns
« on: July 19, 2012, 07:46:45 am »
How do you folks give credit for patterns? Until recently I have used word of mouth.   Something like  "Did you make that?"  Yes, I cut it out but the pattern came from Steve Good   or  The pattern was inspired by Steve Good and I changed it."  Whether I sell or give the piece away I am sure the designers name is quickly forgotten. I have read where some of you actually sign your work. Do you  credit the pattern maker that way also?  Honestly I have not  but will if possible. I use a branding iron on most pieces with my name but many are too small or just not able to be branded. I like the signature idea!~

Introduce Yourself. / Hello from the Middle Peninsula
« on: July 16, 2012, 05:46:23 pm »
Hello all,Billy from Va. I have been scrolling for about 3 years and hooked for about 2 years 12 months!  I am on the middle Peninsula 25 miles up the York River  from Yorktown Va and across the river from Williamsburg Va.  Started reading this forum about a week ago with the intention of getting "caught up" before jumping in. Well that ain't gonna happen.  Feel like I already know many of you from posts, patterns, brag items and the gallery. I will continue reading but now feel I can join in also. I have learned so much already ---  many
thanks to all.  Biggest problem now is dragging myself away from the computer to go and cut something.  Thanks to Steve and all the others for such a fantastic forum!!

Billy On the beautiful York River  :)
