« on: February 27, 2014, 04:49:31 pm »
Got me a Bobbin Sander, not sure how good as yet but first tests, OK
All Ways wanted an oscillating sander but could never afford one.
This came on special at $269.10 plus shipping $45.00 =$320.85 NZ (258.60 approx: USD).
Shipping stinks but I have wanted one for a long time.
Normal price 300 plus 45 =345 NZ  _(USD 288.67)

General Scroll Saw Talk / Scrolling Bent Ply
« on: January 28, 2014, 03:20:25 pm »
As the title say's. I was given a couple of old cabinets one oak one Rimu.
The Rimu is NZ timber and straight no problem.
The Oak one has two curved doors and two curved draws.

So is there a trick to scrolling curved or do I fire wood them.
I think they wood look nice as a wall hanging with a large scene on them or cut smaller.

Suggestions please.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Drill Bits
« on: January 04, 2014, 03:47:42 pm »
Not for scrolling:I know you can get large bits with smaller shanks but can you get them the other way round.

I make toy wheels with a circle cutter but at times I only need a 6mm (1/4") dia centre hole for the axle, the circle cutter has a fixed (but removable) 8mm  5/16" drill.

What I'm after is a 6mm (1/4") drill with a 8mm (5/16") shaft.

Any advise please

Brag Forum / Tea Box
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:41:17 am »
Was asked to make a box to hold tea bags for my local cafe.
Used Rimu, Matai and the name is (I think is mahogany)  veneer.
The sides and ends are 10mm so I thought I wood try some keys (not that great) but not real bad either. ;D

Brag Forum / The Lords prayer
« on: May 17, 2013, 05:16:23 am »
I just finished this of the Lords prayer.
The letters are cut from Rimu (NZ Hardwood)
The backing is a piece of ply from a hollow core door from my house that is about 60 years old.
The frame is from pallet wood from Adams Lake in British Columbia, Sugar pine I believe.
Painted aluimuin (sp)with streaks of black.

Pattern Requests. / Praying Hands
« on: May 16, 2013, 07:05:11 am »
Pattern makers...
There is a painting of a pair of hands like so...

https://www.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=8b6a638e60616eadacae

Can a pattern be made of these hands or if you know of the painting I refer to....
The picture is a bit on the small side but is the only one I can find am trying to find another.

I think I have found the one I'm after but it's not a pattern...
