Hi Guys:

I don't know about you but I find layer patterned projects boring.  I agree they result in a great 3-dimensional effect but other than repetitive cutting, they require a significant amount of wood.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes I have the extra tubes but was hoping to get the one that is crimped and has the hole for the blade in it.
Unfortunate that a product can be sold and you can not reach the manufacturer.

Does anyone know how to contact the manufacturer "Chris" of the Scrollnado?  I had a blade break and it destroyed the lower tube which I need to replace (hopefully without paying for an entire new set). Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Steve...just installed the Scrollnado.  The bottom tube is being hit by the top of the bottom blade clamp.  The tube is tight to the bottom of the table which prevents it from being high enough to miss the clamp at the clamp's peak up-stroke.  This causes a pretty loud noise as well as vibration in the table.

Any thoughts?

I saw Steve's video but he had no apparent problem like this is.  The tube is tight to the bottom of the table where the top of the lower clamp strikes it.  Just not enough room for the tube.

Today I installed a Scrollnado on my DW788 and have a noise from the bottom tube.  The top of the bottom blade clamp is hitting the bottom tube on its upstroke.  The tube is tight to the bottom surface of the cast iron top.  There just is not enough room for the tube to prevent the blade clamp from hitting it.  Anyone else have this problem with the Scrollnado?  It really makes a lot of noise.

Steve: RE: your post today...Woodcrafters will cut their 5'x5' sheets of Baltic Birch down to size for free.  I have them cut a sheet into 16"x 30" size that I can then easily use on the DW788.

Yes, I did preorder the clamps made for the DW788 and due to a mix-up I received the ones with the tension lever from Bear Woods ($90 plus $5.98 shipping).  Interested in saving money and weight and after speaking to Bear Woods, I decided to return them for the $64 clamps even though Bear Woods would not refund the $5.98 shipping plus I would have to pay shipping to return them. At the post office (in Dayton, OH) I learned that it would be necessary to fill out a Customs Form (British Columbia) and also that the form would not fit on the box I was returning them in (the same box that Bear Woods used to send them to me). Frustrated, I have decided to keep the ones with the tension lever. FYI

IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE PARIFFIN TO WAX THE CAST IRON TABLE SURFACE?  HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS?

I finally bit the bullet and took my dw788 in to an authorized Dewalt Service Center for vibration repair.  The total for the necessary parts to repair came to $371.00 without labor.  I paid the $35.00 basic diagnostic fee and left with the machine parts in a box.  Their report was the various parts were bent and the bearings are fine.

I have now a new machine on order.

I have salvaged the Type 2 motor ($300). the variable speed control, and the cast iron table ($250) if anyone might be interested.
