I agree! There may be days you won't feel 100%, but if you're still able, & have the desire, keep truckin' brother!! Your advice will always be more than welcome here, & your wisdom & knowledge of woodworking is very much appreciated! Take it a day at a time & see how things go. I lost my livelihood due to health reasons. It was a tall hill to climb afterwards. So I buried myself in my woodworking. A year ago, I had major back surgery, & am facing two more. There are days the pain is pretty ugly, but I find myself something to do on the scroll saw, & kind of get it off my mind awhile. Hang in there, my friend! You'll be ok!!😊😊 you're in our thoughts & prayers. Enjoy your day!

Howdy, & welcome to the forum😊 personally, not being a fan of anything DeWalt, were I you, I'd check out Craigs List in your area, & eBay too. You can find good deals on machines with very little use. Take a look at the Hawk line. They are a nice, quiet reliable saw, & well worth the money. I recently picked up a 20" VS on eBay for $350. The saw sold for $1200 new. If you're going to spend the money, buy the best you can afford, & you are able to get parts for & work on. Hawk saws you can.😉 Their customer service is excellent, also. Just my .02. Enjoy your day.

Take a look at the Hawks. Sometimes they are listed on Craigslist, & EBay for reasonable prices. Your budget is your concern, but before you jump into a good saw, be sure its what you're looking for, & a saw you'll enjoy using. Not just buying it to impress your family & buddies, & then let it set & collect dust. Sounds harsh, but I'd like to see you keep sawin', rather then lose interest because ya don't like the saw.😉 enjoy your day😊

Howdy! I would have to say the RBI Hawk line of scroll saws are the Cadillac of scroll saws, my friend. I have a 220VS myself, & have recently had similar issues. From experience, it sounds like you're blade tightening set up may need some adjusting, or, the cam inside the blade release is shot. First, take a look underneath your blade release. If there is a small brass colored hex screw under there, you may have some salvation. Get yourself a 3/32" Allen wrench, and try to turn the wrench to the right. Just a little at a time. W/O a blade, move your blade release. When you begin to tighten this adjustment screw, you should start to feel some resistance in the blade release handle. Don't get to much on it. Try that. If that don't do solve your issue, my advice would be to call Hawk, & ask for Nicole. You're going to need some parts, brother. You shouldn't have to adjust blade tension that often, UNLESS you're using various blade sizes. If you have further questions or problems, feel free to pm me anytime. Hopefully I helped ya a little. Mr. Dave, I'm a self taught scroll sawyer with a day or two experience under my belt, & am no expert by no means, either. My friend, I have several friends that have far more experience than myself, & they will tell you there is no dumb question, & as far as the expert bit goes, well, that's a matter of ego, not ability.😉 The main idea is to learn something new every day, have the ability to put it to use in your habits, & be willing to help others. That's what we're here for.😊 I drove OTR for 35 years. Friendship, camaraderie, & being able to just slow down to ask questions & get advice BEFORE something bad happens is unheard of. So, for me, this site has been a learning experience from day one! I am into other aspects of woodworking besides scrolling. But scrolling is my favorite, because of the fascination of it! The fascination of the creation, the look I'm after when I'm done with the project. The folks I've met in the short time I've been a member of this site are knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions, & always have good things to say to one another!😊 keep sawin' & keep learning, Mr. Dave! Howdy Paul! Easy on that bad language, brother! Folks might accuse ya of hanging' out with an old truck driver like me! I too, am a bottom feeder. And have difficulty when it comes to getting' that @#%&$## little bitty blade fed thru. I've got carpal tunnel in both hands, along w\arthritis from hangin' on to a steering wheel & gear shift. So, what I do for me, I take a white out pencil & dab an 1/8" or so of the top end of the blade, use long handled needle nose pliers, & a flash light to get the blade started, then as it comes thru on top, I give it a slight pull w/the needle nose pliers, & I'm usually ok. It sounds like extra work, but as much fret work as I do, and with tiny blades, a couple of times, & ya got it down to a science! Enjoy your project!

We live in NW Kansas, & it always gets me at the comments & attitudes we get at craft shows we enter. My wife does magnetic beaded jewelry, beaded banners, felt banners, etc. I am a Scroll Sawyer, & have dream catchers, picture frames, toy boxes, things like that. We very seldom get our asking prices at the shows, but, the ticklish part is when them folks that had bad things to say at our craft booth, conveniently show up at our shop & want a custom made project out of high dollar wood. They don't bat an eye at $12.00/hr scroll saw time, & $25/hr shop time for sanding, finish work, etc. I refuse to work for free, folks! And I am a hobbyist, as you all look at it, to me, I'm a Scroll Sawyer, a woodworker, a handyman, whatever my client asks me to do, but, I have tools to maintain, rent & utilities to pay at the shop, on & on. You come to me & want a project done, it'll be professional work, & you'll get what you pay for. Bottom line is this, does the customer work at their job for free? Just because you're doing this as a hobby, doesn't mean you can't pay for your materials & time for that project. Respect yourself, your work, & your hobby. You'll find your pricing will be easier to settle. Enjoy your project. Sawdust

Good evening folks! I'm on the hunt for a pattern of a Gleaner "L" combine runnin' in a wheat field. I've been lookin' for sometime with no luck. I've got a close friend that was a custom cutter, & run Gleaner L's for many years over several thousand acres, in several states. I'm trying to put a plaque of sorts together for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sawdust

Mr. Russ, thanks for the video tip on removing patterns. I've tried everything from rags to spray bottles with paint thinner. Your way, by far, works the best!! Hands down!! Thanks again!!!
