"United we stand divided we fall!"
« on: February 24, 2014, 11:39:08 pm »
"Two Americas:

The Democrats are right, there are two Americas.

The America that works, and the America that doesn?t.

The America that contributes, and the America that doesn?t.

It?s not the haves and the have nots, it?s the dos and the don?ts.

Some people do their duty as Americans, obey the law, support themselves, contribute to society, and others don?t. That?s the divide in America.

It?s not about income inequality, it?s about civic irresponsibility.

It?s about a political party that preaches hatred, greed and victimization in order to win elective office.

It?s about a political party that loves power more than it loves its country. That?s not invective, that?s truth, and it?s about time someone said it.

The politics of envy was on proud display a couple weeks ago when President Obama pledged the rest of his term to fighting ?income inequality.? He noted that some people make more than other people, that some people have higher incomes than others, and he says that?s not just.

That is the rationale of thievery. The other guy has it, you want it, Obama will take it for you. Vote Democrat.

That is the philosophy that produced Detroit. It is the electoral philosophy that is destroying America.

It conceals a fundamental deviation from American values and common sense because it ends up not benefiting the people who support it, but a betrayal.

The Democrats have not empowered their followers, they have enslaved them in a culture of dependence and entitlement, of victimhood and anger instead of ability and hope.

The president?s premise ? that you reduce income inequality by debasing the successful ? seeks to deny the successful the consequences of their choices and spare the unsuccessful the consequences of their choices
.
Because, by and large, income variation in society is a result of different choices leading to different consequences. Those who choose wisely and responsibly have a far greater likelihood of success, while those who choose foolishly and irresponsibly have a far greater likelihood of failure. Success and failure usually manifest themselves in personal and family income.

You choose to drop out of high school or to skip college ? and you are apt to have a different outcome than someone who gets a diploma and pushes on with purposeful education.

You have your children out of wedlock and life is apt to take one course; you have them within a marriage and life is apt to take another course.

Most often in life our destination is determined by the course we take.

My doctor, for example, makes far more than I do. There is significant income inequality between us. Our lives have had an inequality of outcome, but, our lives also have had an inequality of effort. While my doctor went to college and then devoted his young adulthood to medical school and residency, I got a job in a restaurant.

He made a choice, I made a choice, and our choices led us to different outcomes. His outcome pays a lot better than mine.

Does that mean he cheated and Barack Obama needs to take away his wealth? No, it means we are both free men in a free society where free choices lead to different outcomes.

It is not inequality Barack Obama intends to take away, it is freedom. The freedom to succeed, and the freedom to fail.

There is no true option for success if there is no true option for failure.

The pursuit of happiness means a whole lot less when you face the punitive hand of government if your pursuit brings you more happiness than the other guy.

Even if the other guy sat on his arse and did nothing. Even if the other guy made a lifetime?s worth of asinine and shortsighted decisions.

Barack Obama and the Democrats preach equality of outcome as a right, while completely ignoring inequality of effort.

The simple Law of the Harvest ? as ye sow, so shall ye reap ? is sometimes applied as, ?The harder you work, the more you get.? Obama would turn that upside down. Those who achieve are to be punished as enemies of society and those who fail are to be rewarded as wards of society.

Entitlement will replace effort as the key to upward mobility in American society if Barack Obama gets his way. He seeks a lowest common denominator society in which the government besieges the successful and productive to foster equality through mediocrity.

He and his party speak of two Americas, and their grip on power is based on using the votes of one to sap the productivity of the other. America is not divided by the differences in our outcomes, it is divided by the differences in our efforts. It is a false philosophy to say one man?s success comes about unavoidably as the result of another man?s victimization.

What Obama offered was not a solution, but a separatism. He fomented division and strife, pitted one set of Americans against another for his own political benefit. That?s what socialists offer. Marxist class warfare wrapped up with a bow.

Two Americas, coming closer each day to proving the truth to Lincoln?s maxim that a house divided against itself cannot stand."

No I didn't write this, just passed it along, and agree with it completely.

                                  Truth to the end.
I worked for 30 years at a job that I was not always happy with. It was the best job for a man or women with very little education. It paid the bills, raised a family and had fun from time to time. Now I'm retired and  between my retirement and SS, I only take home $30.00 less then when I worked. I worked In some of the toughest prisons in Texas. Been beaten up knocked out and stuff thrown on me. It chaps my back side  when people talk about cutting SS but you never hear them talk about cutting welfare . We worked, sweated & bleed for our money. What has the other group given up. Don't get me wrong I'm all for helping a man when he's down, but not take him in to raise.

I agree there are alot of folk on SSI and deserved it for the many years they have worked, my uncle is a point, worked for over 40 years in the same school as a head janitor, now retired and on SS. He deserves to get back what he has put in over the 40 years of working. Welfare is there to help get back on  your feet, not support you but the majority of those on welfare are just that looking to be supported.

But also look at the pay rate of jobs, most issue stem from greed, most americans want 20 a hour to do a job, unions which are good also cause a issue with this. Look at roofing company why do you think they hire mexicans they will work for 10 an hour, but a american will demand 20 an hour, what do you think the roofing company is going to do, I had a roofing company tell me this, why he hires mexicans they work no matter what, hot cold rain, the work, americans not so. If we work are be happy with our pay would have our jobs, and most are to proud to take that burger flipping job till something better is found and rather collect welfare or unemployment. Its a shame but to me its the fault of our own to a point.

Amen! I read an email from a congressman who thinks that minimum wage should be raised because our hard-working Americans deserve it. Well, our hard-working Americans are already making more than the amount he wants to increase it to. To me it's more important to put American's back to work and increasing minimum wage is the wrong direction to go.

I have heard the same thing dirtrider73068 said about the Mexicans. I heard this from a doctor and a land developer. They both said the Mexicans work harder for minimum wage than most others and they never complain about the work they have to do.

I AGREE!  The left wing press are implicit in creating the current 'hate the rich' enviorment.   It's time for all Americans to remember that Hitler had the 'fourth estate' in his pocket.   They did his proproganda; many underinformed Germans, sheepishly followed.  President Lincoln said: You cannot elevate the poor by taxing the rich. (a paraphrase)

Hi, Gabby,
Do you know who wrote that?
I agree that America is divided. I don't like to talk politics so, all I will say
in that vein is, one man (the President) doesn't make all the ignorant choices that America has dealt with without the support of all the Congressmen that are NOT helping their constituents.
When you create a situation where one person works and someone else reaps the benefits, before long, the people working are going to get the idea they may as well change sides and become the ones accepting the hand-outs instead of the ones doing all the work.
I watch on a weekly basis that the company I work for engineer and test jobs for the automotive industry and then send those jobs to Mexico to run them at lower wage scales. Sure their wage scale is lower, their cost of living is much less! But, unfortunately, it seems all I can do is complain. I really have no idea how any of us can make it change.
God Bless! Spirithorse

Thats so true, and most of it applies here too.
It's all a case of "Mind over Matter",  The Government don't Mind, and I don't Matter.

My father was a staunch believer in the right to work, which in part at least is why we moved to Arizona, a right to work state.
As such wages are lower than in many other states which have gone to the unions.
Dad grew up and was a young man when armed (with clubs or worse) thugs working for the unions would intimidate the workers into joining and then voting the way they were told. Then you had the strike breakers who would jump the picket lines to keep the shop from shutting down.
This pitted neighbor against neighbor and was a sort of civil war, and people were killed over it.

Now we come to the part that is instrumental with our current problem. Consider this, the minimum wage when I left the Navy in 1964 was $1.25 an hour in AZ and now they are trying to get it to over $10 per hour,
and I want you to think what caused this.
Unions have constantly pushed for higher and higher wages and benefits and eventually the companies give in to the demands.
So guess who pays for it? You got it the consumer because the producer has to pass the cost along in order to stay in business.
So fast forward to today most manufacturing has been shipped to third world countries where people can work for peanuts.
Go take a look at the door panel of your nice Ford and see where it was built, Mexico and South America.
Caterpiller parts are made in Japan and China, you say you drive an American made Honda, yeah right made in Japan and assembled in USA.
Detroit is a ghost town, the foundries are nearly all closed we were at one time the largest manufacturer of steel in the world, now it's China.
Look at the labels in your clothes, 90% or more are made in china or other third world countries.
On and on ad-nauseum.
So you tell me who caused our predicament?
Greedy people with their hands out strangling the goose that laid the golden eggs.
Go read your history people we are no longer the proud country of my youth, in less than 70 years it has nearly been destroyed, and most people can't even see the handwriting on the wall.
Quit swallowing the garbage the mainstream media is feeding you and take the time to ask questions then find the answers. With the internet at your fingertips there is no excuse for ignorance, you do have to sift the truth from the falsehoods but it just takes a little time, once you get the knack for it.
If the only place you see a story is in blogs take it with a great big spoon of salt and keep looking, listen to people from Wallbuilders and skim over the clowning around and listen to what Glenn Beck has to say he is a Libertarian Patriot, and we need more like him if the USA is going to survive.
Now quit listening to a grumpy old crackpot who's time has nearly run out and get with the program before it's to F-ing late, it's your country and problem now.  :'( :'( :'(

In 1968 Kurt Vonnegut Jr put together a book of short stories called "Welcome to the Monkey House".  One of the stories was titled "Harrison Bergeron".  It is the year 2081. Because of Amendments to the Constitution, every American is fully equal, meaning that no one is smarter, better-looking, stronger, or faster than anyone else. The Handicapper General and a team of agents ensure that the laws of equality are enforced. The government forces citizens to wear "handicaps" (a mask if they are too handsome or beautiful, earphones with deafening radio signals to make intelligent people unable to concentrate and form thoughts, and heavy weights to slow down those who are too strong or fast).
Sound familiar?
You can read more about this at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_Bergeron

The biggest problem with Vonnegut's books was he made you think.

Hitler realized that to unify a group you need to have a common enemy. He figured that the Jews were the easiest to focus on and used that to drive his country to annihilation. BHO has settled on the "One Percenters" and has a huge following waiting for him to drop them some crumbs.

Even in the digital age, people still learn best by example. Make you workshop a model of innovation, thrift, and self-reliance, and let the young men and women around you know that they are welcome there. Help them to understand that anything worth doing is worth doing.
