General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Abandoning my beloved DeWalt 788's
« on: August 03, 2015, 03:59:18 pm »
I have the 788 and am the hobby type user so no problems.
I have  purchased a number of dewalt in the past few years and would consider them good home use type tools but as you found not  full time commercial tools.

I usually use spray adhesive but the other day I picked up a cheap wood burning kit on amazon and transferred a few simple patterns by heating the image I printed on my laser printer. Don't work for letters as they come out reversed ( mirror image) on the wood.

I do prefer the olson blades also use them on my band saw. I have not tried the mach version but will give them a try.
I do not use a lot of blades as I do not scroll to sell  just to relax.

I would suggest using Pm's. Problem with email address in a forum is robots tend to pick and the email address and you get spam mail.

While I never built that, looking at the plan 1/8 does sound a reasonable size as it is the body. The 1/8 drill bits appears to be to make the opening for the wings which I guess corresponds to the ends of the wing tips. No law saying you have to use a drill bit to make slots try whatever you think would work with your tools at hand. Since its only a short piece of dowel for the body just make the slots with your tools and see if it looks ok if not just get a new piece of dowel and try again.
