Welcome aboard but be warned it can be addicting , Steve has enough free plans in his online catalog that should keep you busy for a while.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Scroll saw light
« on: December 08, 2015, 04:09:51 pm »
I have led magnifier light from rockler. I do not see any flicker and light is good. I also purchased it for the magnifier which is good but I find I prefer to see what I am cutting with out the magnification.
link to light I have below

Welcome aboard, scrolling is great fun I only scroll to relax not sell, but there are those that make money while having fun.
My shop is 12 x 14 but I have a full complement of tools. I have everything on wheels that is what you need to do with a small shop.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: New scroll saw magazine
« on: November 26, 2015, 08:33:27 am »
Karl, thanks for the corrected link. I understanding about holding the magazine in your hand, that is what I like about the woodsmith setup they send you a paper copy and and you also have access to the magazine online. Very little scroll or craft type projects but a great general woodworking magazine.  I also have the online library which gives you access to all back copies.
This would be a great format for scroll and crafts as with a online magazine its so easy to print out a pattern. I am sure you know about  the magazine but  link below for those who do not.

I would much rather see a scroll magazine in a online version maybe like what "Woodsmith" does.

Sue Mey has her pattern magazine:

I looked at the link but I only see patterns for sale. What I was referring to is a complete magazine online. It's a nice option and easy to read & research.

Computer questions / Re: Kindle E - readers
« on: November 24, 2015, 01:32:31 pm »
I have 2 a older kindle paperwhite which basically fictions as a reader. I have not used in while.
I also have a kindle fire hdx which works as a reader and you can connect to the internet with it.
I connect through my wifi as it is a free connection.  So the decision is if you want to surf with it you either need a wifi connection or have to pay for the 3g. My wifi is free as I am a cable Scribner

Sound like a very low budget operation as they are trying to see how many sales before they print.
I hope they do well but its a tough market for print media.
I would much rather see a scroll magazine in a online version maybe like what "Woodsmith" does. If for nothing else  then to be able to search every issue on line is great when looking for specific projects.
I have the Holiday issue that Fox Chapel put out last year and revised this year but their online project seems to have stalled.

I'm not familiar with the makita scroll saw so can't comment. I do have other makita tools and have no complaints with them. Plastic tends to melt back together when cut so you need to take a little care when cutting that, but others here can explain better how to cut plastic the I can.
If this is a one time project you may just want to use a jig saw, the scroll saw can be addicting and one project leads to another and then you a buried in a pile of saw dust :)

Brag Forum / Re: 2 Bowls and a Mug

The bowls look nice but I like the mug.  I may have to make one.
I can see it is made of rings is there a easy way to line them up for gluing.
