Title: How to get burn
Post by: edward on November 05, 2015, 10:58:11 am
Just wondering how to get burn marks out of 1/2" oak, got the project finished and noticed a burn mark, tried sanding and still there, any suggestions.  edward

Perhaps you could re-cut the burned area taking off only a slight amount while running the blade at a lower speed?

I  think a scraper would be your friend in this case. Very controllable and removes only as much as needed. But that's just me, as I use scrapers a lot , some folk can't seem to get on with them.

I'm normally able to get the burn marks off of oak with my Dremel and a flat sanding disk, set on a slower speed.

Just a lot of sanding. Do you use tape on your wood?
I always put clear packing tape down the then blue painters tape then my pattern. I don't need to sand burn marks. I hate sanding. Try this with  the same pattern and compare. Good luck
