i was asked to do a graduation plaque for a welding class any ideas?

It would help a little to know what kind of welding they are doing, (stick, tig, oxy-acetylene, etc)
http://www.millerwelds.com/desktop/ has some examples of classic welding poses that may be inspiring.
I have a tie bar from the mid 1960's of a gas cutting torch, that kind of looks cool as well.

Unless you can ask the guy wanting the plaque what is the most common form of welding that's taught I'd go with a cutout of a "stick" welder. Easily recognizable by anyone. Many moons ago when I first started on my welding career "stick" was the first thing taught.
