A friend of mine wanted a motorcycle themed key holder, so I used the pattern of Steve Good's and altered it slightly with a backer board and key hooks. I used 1/4 baltic birch for the front, and 1/8 for the backer. Front has been lightly stained and backer board painted black.

Pattern by Steve Good. I used Baltic Birch 1/4, the backing is spray painted black on 1/8 Baltic Birch, the front is sprayed with a light stain.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Which blade to use for cutting a 2x4

Which blade is suggested for cutting a 2x4 and how should it be cut: feed rate fast or slow, speed control set low or high? I will be cutting Steve's crayon truck pattern. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

just checking in. my family and i had to evacuate the small community we live in almost 2 weeks ago. the river will crest here thursday and it maybe another month before the waters recede enough to return back home. i hope that any other members in its path will stay safe. hotel life isnt what its all cracked up to be, but at least we're safe. hope to be back scrolling soon. take care and god bless.

seeing as we have members from all over the world, I am curious as how others celebrate Christmas.

being from the states, my family celebrates Christmas by each person opening a gift on Christmas eve and we watch movies together, Christmas morning we have a huge breakfast, then open gifts and later have dinner together and visit with family and friends.

got my scroll out of storage finally and made a few things 

bird keyholder made out of baltic birch, spray painted white. (not sure where i got the pattern).

cross made out of baltic birch and polyurthaned with the backer being a golden oak color. (think this is from steves patterns).

seeing as we have lost a moderator, id like to suggest sheila as a second moderator. sheila is so very talented and doesnt get near enough the recognition she deserves in my opinion. if anyone isnt familiar with her work, please check out her website and see how talented she is, i was awestruck when i saw her work and her paintings.

sorry if im stepping out of line, but i believe sheila has alot to offer and has already given good advice to many members.

yes i know its early for the holiday season but wanted to try out steves pattern. outside of the box is finished with minwax golden oak, backboards and bottom is red. i used 1/4 baltic birch and just finished it today. thank you steve for sharing the pattern.

all of these were done on 8 1/2" x 11" - 1/8 baltic birch, one of the patterns is from grampa, and a couple are from gayle during the old MSN days before they closed down the MSN groups. i havent mastered the spiral blade yet, so these were cut using my fav FD-XL #3.
