Title: Painted Woody Wagon
Post by: ToverT on August 14, 2013, 10:13:42 pm
I made another Woody Wagon, but I wanted to try and keep the material costs down.  So, I decided to make it out of Aspen wood and paint that with only the outer panels being 1/4' walnut.  Well, the material costs sure went down, but the labor time went through the roof!  This has taken 3 days to paint with 3 coats.  I think I'll opt for the more costly material and less labor?  All in all it came out pretty good.

Thanks for Lookin'

Thanks Ray.  It's hand painted with Acrylic.

If you are going to continue with these, which are very nice I might add.  I would suggest investing in an air brush, your painting time will diminish once you get the hang of it.  Once you learn how to use one, you will wonder how you ever got along without one.

Nice looking job Tommy, but a little more on the paint please - what is acrylic paint, where do you purchase it, why does it take so long, blah blah blah....

I am planning on more toys but don't know a darn thing about painting.

Tommy, a great choice of colors, I really like the look.
Al, to answer your question on Acrylic paint it is water soluble with a mixture of pigments suspended in liquid and dries to form a hard surface. It is inexpensive, comes in lots of colors and you can also buy it in enamel.
Michael's and most craft stores stock it.
