Title: Question regarding 'rating'
Post by: scrollgirl on May 26, 2010, 12:01:26 pm
OK, I know I am kind of "new" here and I really, really did look for the answer but couldn't find it in anything here.

Underneath our names on the side bar, I used to have 'Newbie' with a star.  OK, I thought.  I am 'new' so that fits.  Now I am a 'Jr. Member' with two stars.  I also see 'Senior Member' and other names with the stars.  I assume that Steve is the 'Grand Poobah' (from those of you who remember the 'Flintstones').  So my question is this . . . could someone please explain to me how this system works?  What did I do to earn the "Jr. Member" rank?

Thanks so much for your clarification!

"Knowledge is Power" (Ignorance is NOT bliss!)

Shelia, it all has to do with how many posts you post.   I have learned this from other forums and Steve's is no different.  So keep on posting. 8)

hi sheila,
cherie is correct, it depends on how many posts you post. graybeard posted this to a similar question to steve the other day:

Newbie - 1 to 50 posts
Jr. Member - 51 to 99 posts
Full Member - 100 plus posts

hope this helps.

Ohhhh . . . I see . . . So here they REWARD you for talking a lot!  (Unlike the Chicago Public School System where I got 'check marks' on the back of my report card for talking too much!)

I'm gonna like this place!  ;D

FYI: The prefix global or universe is not where the power is. They only reflect on the number of members we moderate. A Moderators power does not strengthen nor does it diminish. It remains constant. 8)

Almost wish I hadn't read what it takes to go up the ranks here... I'll be a "Newbie" forever!  0 days, 14 hrs and 52 minutes.  That's what I get for being a lurker, I guess.  Oh well, it's a great site with great people.  What more can one ask???

I know you are cherie and I am just messing with you. I haven't had this much fun in a while. Got kind of boring lately. The (death of a scrollsaw) post made me laugh too.  8)

Russ, believe it or not, in school I was very shy and quiet, at least till my sophomore year.  Even when I moved here to Missouri and my jobs, I was very quiet and kept to myself.  That is until the last factory I worked at changed, then I decided not to take crap from anyone and became so mouthy it was unreal.  The nice little quiet girl went bye bye.  100 more to catch up?  Well I guess I will let ya stay in the lead.  Have a great weekend.

Hi Cherie I was like you to when I was young - shy, bullied big time and conned - that was before I had to deal with my X & then my late Husbands X. The good thing out of it all is that I can now stand up for myself & heaven help anyone that tries to con or harass me.

Cool, Bud!  I didn't even notice!

I have been here writing instructions all day and I get notified when people post on the boards and I have just been chiming in from time to time.  I didn't even look at the count!  I tried to be mature about it and not respond just to make it 100 and I went back to my writing and I couldn't resist and was thinking 'What the heck!?!"  So here it is . . . .my 100th post!! (I think I hear cyber-whistles and bells and see cyber-confetti falling!  Wow! It is like a party!!  Just me and the three cats and all of you - my new friends!)

Thanks so much to Steve and everyone here for making this a great place to hang out.  You all make my day a lot more fun and if I am not careful, I learn some things too!  I really enjoy sharing our love of woodworking and scroll sawing.  I work here alone most of the time and it is great to have feedback and to help others and 'talk' to people though out the day.  You have all added a great deal to my life and I thoroughly enjoy our friendship!

Happy scrolling and thanks,  Sheila :) ;D
