Welcome! This is a great place with lots of really nice people.
And yes, when it comes to scrolling, it does take a different level of patients than other types of woodworking. More than worth it though in my opinion. :-)

Louis, I was a plankowner on the now decommissioned USS Yorktown CG-48 It was the second Aegis Cruiser and for a while the only Aegis in the fleet after the first one, the Ticonderoga was out of commission for a bit after a fire. We commissioned the Yorktown in 1984.

I also recommenced USB sticks over CD/DVD

CDROM and DVD for the computer are quickly becoming obsolete, just like the floppy did. I just had to but a new laptop and was really surprised at the lack of optical drives in many models. I'm not talking cheap net-books either, this was in the $600 and up better versions. I ended up with a nice Core I5 Lenovo with an HD touchscreen that has a DVD drive, but many didn't have them at all anymore.

Very nice version!

Quick story about that song.

Years ago, and for a few years straight, I sang that song solo with a piano accompaniment at the midnight Christmas church service. For those that attend those types of midnight services, you know that they generally have a quite, peaceful type atmosphere. The song was during a quiet reflecting time in the service. there  isn't applause or anything like that during these times.

One year, when our son was maybe 4 years old, just as I sang the last note, he stood up on top of the pew and yelled YAY! at the top of his lungs while clapping as loud as he could. The whole place let out a good laugh. it was adorable.

It was priceless and a fond memory. I miss him dearly every day.

What kind of blades do you use? I use ultra reverse or regular scroll reverse an the back is almost as clean as the front. If I stack cut, the middle pieces are usually perfectly clean on the bottom.

Get well soon!
I hope they got it all and you have a quick recovery. I'm waiting for biopsy results myself as we speak.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: D788 cutting a straight line

Yup, you generally always have to hold the piece at an angle. After a while though, you get so used to it that it becomes natural. To complicate matters, different types of blades cut at different angles. That isn't an issue if you mostly use the same type of blade though. I notice the difference when I go from my normal #1 or #3 ultra reverse to a superior puzzle bade that I use for really fine fret work.

Lots of bandsaw blades will do the same thing.

Awesome work. Aren't those projects with tons of entry holes fun?  ;D
