2 part project
« on: March 09, 2016, 06:08:14 am »
Been scrolling a little but also learning the lathe.
Here is my first scroll / lathe segmented pen I made.

Walnut, Cherry with Aluminum layer between.

Also the last scroll project I finished is this Volker Arnold Schwibbogen.

Hi seadog852, Nice work on your pen and Schwibbogen's.

If you are looking to turn some more unusual pens, take a look at these 'Serpentine Blanks'

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=serpentine+blanks&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf6J6N2LTLAhUExqYKHV39Ds0Q_AUIBygB&biw=1536&bih=722&dpr=1.25

When I saw the price of the blanks alone, US$19, I decided to have a go at making some myself, it is much easier than you think.

Good Luck.

Dave.
My parents must have been psychic, as a child they were always telling me to 'Cut It Out'. So they knew a long time ago that I would become a scroll saw artist.

Well done on both projects.  I think Schwibbogens are so cool!  By the way, what's the difference between a Schwibbogen and a Lichterbogen?  And no, that isn't a set up for a punchline to some obscure joke, it's an honest question.   :D

I'm not sure but from plans I have a licterbogen is a single arch while a schwibbogen is a double arch?

Thanks for the link Hawkdave. I've only turned about 20 pens so new and learning. Here is my first segmented pen I did. Paduak, Yellow heart and credit card.
