I have cut mine tonight.  It is made of black cherry--from a tree in a woodlot about 75 miles from here.  My boss is clearing some trees from the woods on his property, and I am benefiting with free black cherry and walnut, as well as some maple.  Tomorrow, I will start to spray a finish on the ornament, and send it out by the weekend.

I am taking my selection to go out back up to Springfield with me and I will mail them from there.  Should not take too long since my recipient is about local!  ;D  The bad news is, it may be the end of the week before I can mail it.  Financial woes have hit again.  Wonder what will get shut off?

AAAAHHHG!!!!!! it's broken!!!!

I was sanding the ornament under a sanding disk on my drill press and the ornament was lanced as a frisbee at the wall.
broken in 7 pieces   :o :(  :'(
couple of hours work gone.
I'm a little depressed now, have to charge my "battery" and going to make it all over again....

well, I now know how to do it....  ::)

I can see it now, flying ornaments! I hope you learn from this Marcel! I always sand my wood blanks before I cut the piece. Then after it is cut, I sand off the fuzzies by hand. Also if you stack cut several layers, you will have more than one to work with!

One done and one to go!  My recipient will get one traditional ornament and one with a little Florida style and fun.  The traditional one is done but I spent today making routed bowls in Christmas designs for presents so the 2nd ornament will have to wait a few days.

You're right Dan, figured that out myself and yesterday I sawed a 1/2" piece from a log of yew and sand it down.
didn't had much time yesterday, was putting new paper at the wall at my daughters bedroom.
today I will start at the pattern again.

And maybe Heiko is right to, some people like puzzles. although I think I Will use the scrap to start a fire some day. ;D
