This is the White Tail Deer ?See Creature? that I designed in it?s natural wood state. The original pattern was made from MDF and painted. But after realizing that many woodworkers didn?t take kindly to painting wood, I made a deer which was intended to by displayed in its? altogether! This was made from Oak, with Walnut antlers. I used 3/4? Oak and 1/4? Walnut. It is finished with mineral oil and paste wax, but you can spray it with poly or your favorite finish if you want. It is quick, easy and fun and sure to be a great conversation piece! (Oh, you could also hang these on a wall to hold your shop glasses!)
I hope you like him! Sheila

As I said on the other one, the patterns are in the current issue of Creative Woodworks and Crafts, so if you subscribe, you already have them! (the others are available on my site). I am glad you like them and I think they were a lot of fun to make. Fast and easy! ;)

Hi Sheila,
Nice work. My nephew recons it looks like a springbok with glasses. Springboks will proberly need special glasses during the world cup soccer so they can see the ball before the other teams. Springboks are the South African team.
They look fun to make

More crafters are coloring wood espesially woodturners, but I like natural wood the best, I have colored the puzzels I have made from MDF but they are aimed at the childrens market.
The glass holder looks great I made some from the pattern Steve posted and they sold well, I also use one in my work shop, can all ways find my specs now

That looks fantastic. I have several pairs of glasses spread everywhere. I think I might need a whole animal collection.
