Spiral Blades
« on: July 10, 2018, 10:07:00 pm »
I've never seriously used spiral blades before but, now have a project that's too big to turn on my saw and so must use spiral blades.  The project is in pine so, not too difficult.  I have tried some test cuts with Flying Dutchman blades that I have on hand (New Spiral NS3, 27 t.p.i and Spiral SPFE3 40 t.p.i). The 'New Spiral' blades are terrible.  They seem to be incredibly slow.  The regular 'Spiral' blades seemed to cut at a reasonable speed without too much difficulty.

Before I purchase a bunch of blades for this project can anyone share their recommendations for spiral blades?  I'll be doing some more testing for blade sizes but right now I'm probably leaning toward number 3 or smaller blades.

I would appreciate any suggestions for blades from some of you who have more experience with them than I do.

Thanks,
Dennis
