Roger, Thanks for the info on the wood. I am going to try this with some wood I have on hand.

Can you use a different type of wood for these or is Basswood the best for soaking and drying?

If you order the drill bits from Mike make sure you order the Chuck for Miniature Drill Bits.

I had a similar problem with a Mastercraft Scrollsaw. I gave up on the saw after the 4th one.
I ended up searching for a used saw and eventual found a used Dewalt for $125.

I've never been a big BING fan. I uninstall it on any computer I work on but it is a personal preference :D

Good choice Mike, anything is better then the mastercraft. I learned that the hard way.
 Good luck.

Hey Mike, looks like you bought a mastercraft maximum scroll saw.
I don't want to scare you but I too bought this saw as my first scroll saw and I ended up going through 4 saws before i finally gave up and returned it.

I had to return them for the same 2 issues: 1-The saw gets real noisy and starts to vibrate real bad.  2- The blade clamp screws break.

Hope you don't go through the issues i had but keep your receipt there is a 5 year warranty on the saw.
