new use for scrap wood
« on: May 13, 2012, 10:51:29 pm »
Now remember this is wood that is too small for scrolling...I have been saving mine for no apparent reason but last week I went camping and it is great for kindling, I did make my wife promise to stop me from digging through it for "oh I can use this" pieces it was fun to see all those past projects for the last time!
The ultimate recycle!   Pete
I love the smell of saw dust in the morning.

I do the same thing, Pete!  It is amazing how small of a piece you could picture into "something" to make on the scroll saw.  It takes a lot of restraint to allow it to be recycled this way.  Kudos to you! :)

same here, I use it for smoking my meat.
I have a little home made smoker with a cake-tin as a "fire pit".
so all the small pieces fit in there perfectly.
also use the sawdust for the smoke.

:D :D The woman who does my hair has a woodworking friend and she takes her shavings and dust with glue and makes firestarter sticks. Waste not want not.

Never thought of doing that, I went into the workshop after reading the post and picked most of the small pieces out of the trash can and put them into a box to take camping to start our camp fires next time we go.

I have a few friends who tease me saying they will only let me come to the bonfire if I promise to leave all of the firewood in the fire. I have a habit of grabbing useful pieces. On the other hand I have another friend who has a partially burned piece of designer firewood that I cut hanging on her wall, she claims the burn marks add character.
