Pattern Requests. / collapsible bowl pattern
« on: January 09, 2013, 12:46:37 pm »
I have a request from a family member for a collapsible bowl large enough to hold 1/2 dozen dinner rolls, I have the Longabaugh book but all patterns are too small and would like to find a pattern w/o having to enlarge one of them, anyone know where I could find a few patterns to choose from?  Thanks Pete

The Coffee Shop / Got my replacement saw Monday
« on: January 04, 2013, 09:45:37 am »
I told you about getting a DeWalt before Christmas and it had a front to back blade wobble.  I sent it back (no questions asked to Amazon) and the new one arrived Monday. I got it set up and voila "Wobble free!!!"  However I received an unwanted Christmas gift from a family member...a cold  :'( and when I get a cold it is pretty much life altering, me and doggie doo-doo have a lot in common for at least a week.  So...it won't be today but maybe tomorrow or Sunday I'll be making saw dust (w/mask) and am very excited to try it out.

No silly, not an ornament, my saw!  My wonderful, beautiful, charming, "will never have to get another glass of wine for herself" wife got me a new DeWalt for Christmas, arrived yesterday. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Unfortunately I'll be visiting relatives in St. L for a week and will hardly get a chance to break it in. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

General Scroll Saw Talk / demon dremel
« on: December 11, 2012, 09:30:41 am »
Seems I'm here quite often asking how to repair my little guy, this time it's the blade, it vibrates from side to side (this has been going on for a while). It still cuts straight once I get started but when beginning the cut I'm kinda guessing just where the blade will start into the wood. Anyone have this problem?, can't seem to find any way to tighten anything.

Thanks Pete

General Scroll Saw Talk / ailing Dremel scrollsaw
« on: November 13, 2012, 11:21:08 am »
my saw has been loosening on the mechanism that tightens the blade, slipping and hard to get tight. Finally it gave  up and will now have to replace the parts that are stripped. Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth it. I called Dremel and they are sending a parts list so I can order the part, they no longer make scrollsaws but do have parts still. I would love to try to explain how I need a new saw to my wife...it is Christmas,  ::) almost but of coarse I'll need it early, I still have many projects on hold for the holidays.   Pete

The Coffee Shop / conserving paper for patterns
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:39:11 am »
I always try to use discarded printer paper for my patterns when possible so I can be somewhat eco-friendly. Is there an easy way to group smaller patterns so they will fit more than one on a single sheet without changing the size of the pattern? Some are small enough to put 4 on a sheet when they come (like off Steve's patterns) just 2 per, this may sound insignificant but inquiring minds need to know. ;)  Thanks Pete

Where do you guys get your blades? I want to make some band saw/scroll saw boxes and have to use my band saw so they will be a bit larger. I haven't used my band saw in years so will have to get some new blades. I think I want 1/8", 14 tooth and 1/4". Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks Pete

The Coffee Shop / new use for scrap wood
« on: May 13, 2012, 10:51:29 pm »
Now remember this is wood that is too small for scrolling...I have been saving mine for no apparent reason but last week I went camping and it is great for kindling, I did make my wife promise to stop me from digging through it for "oh I can use this" pieces it was fun to see all those past projects for the last time!
The ultimate recycle!   Pete
