General Scroll Saw Talk / Pinned scroll saw blades
« on: April 23, 2017, 04:39:32 am »
I'm building a miniature bow saw and am planning on using pinned blades. I can't find any of these locally so I will have to order them. In the meantime could someone please measure how far the pins protrude from the blade, and the diameter of the pins?

Thanks in advance for information.

Brag Forum / Scale model of bell tower in Spain
« on: July 28, 2013, 09:51:04 pm »
The actual bell tower is located in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Spain. I obtained the plans from Finescrollsaw.com. The model is constructed of dimensional Basswood and Mahogany plywood. The columns
and spindles (120 of them) were turned on a lathe instead of scrollsawing. Height is 60 inches.

Brag Forum / Other projects
« on: April 13, 2013, 06:11:03 pm »
I had a request from a forum member who posted on my German House posting to see more of my projects so here are some of them.  (1) A chuck wagon with cooking utensils. (2) A farm tip-cart which was used mostly to haul stable muckings. (3) A 1929 Ford Stake-Bed truck. All of these were scratch-built from plans. The chuck wagon and tip-cart are 1/8th scale and the truck is 1/10th scale.

I hope you enjoy them.

Brag Forum / Ancient German house
« on: April 05, 2013, 07:54:23 pm »
Finally finished the house. Took longer than I had anticipated but was very much fun to build. I don't know if the plans were for an existing house or they were a collection of architectural cliches. Quite a bit of scrollsawing even though it may not be readily apparent.

Now I'm looking for another project. Any suggestions?

Brag Forum / Dome Clock
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:45:06 pm »
I may have posted this earlier but if so I can't find the posting. Cut from basswood mostly with birch plywood here and there. Around 2000 inner cuts. Painted to resemble old stone work. Christmas lights around the top. Stands 50" in height. I think a full-scale version could have been built in less time :)

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Zero clearance insert
« on: November 07, 2012, 05:17:20 pm »
Attached are pics of a zero clearance insert I fabricated from .25" aluminum and .020" steel sheet. The insert is epoxied to the steel and drilled to accommodate a blade up to a 9. The fixture attaches to the table of the saw (Excalibur 16") from underneath and will be held in place by magnets. The insert seems to be proud of the table top but is actually flush. The hole may have to have a slot cut in the back side to allow for fore-and-aft blade movement. Any ideas for improvement are welcome.

Cheers,
Gadois
