General Scroll Saw Talk / Wobbly blade clamp
« on: October 31, 2018, 09:28:15 am »
I watched the video Steve posted a couple of days ago about the Dewalt 788.  In the video Bob said the blade clamp should move.  I have attached a video of my upper and lower clamps.  Is this wear & tear, would just replacing the clamps fix the issue.  I am hoping to get the Pegas clamps for Christmas! These are the links to the videos as I couldn't figure out how to upload them here.  Let me know if you can't see them and possibly how to show them (not very tech savy).  https://imgur.com/a/pmnzTRi

Pattern Requests. / Help Please
« on: March 11, 2018, 11:35:43 am »
I am hoping to have a pattern made from this photo.  It will be for my brother's 60th birthday.  I am hoping for a fairly simple plan that focuses mostly on the boat.  Not wanting much of the water.  I have tried the rapid resizer stencil/line option, but it is too busy!!and I don't know how to manipulate Inkscape. Someone made a plan for me from one of the facebook groups, again way to much "detail".

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Puzzle question
« on: January 14, 2018, 10:13:38 am »
I am hoping to start making more puzzles this year and after watching many videos I have a simple question.  Instead of applying the template to a scrap piece of wood, can it be printed on a piece of card stock (or heavier paper) and then proceed as usual?  Would there be a disadvantage to doing so?  I should have mentioned that I am talking about putting a photo on the 1/4 inch size, then just using card stock over top.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Child safe woods
« on: October 01, 2017, 11:14:43 am »
I am expecting my first grandchild and would like to make a baby gym (something like  this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gkVEJWsYFKA/Ut3tcH_cQXI/AAAAAAAAEbs/1oVJDlzTHfQ/s1600/IMG_7946.JPG).  I am not sure I want to use pine, but are there any woods that I should avoid?

Ask Steve a question. / pattern
« on: January 29, 2017, 09:58:47 am »
I posted in pattern request, but thought I would post here as well.  I have a friend who has a Welsh Terrier and a Wheaten Terrier and saw the  "breeds" patterns.  Could you make a pattern for both of her breeds?  Much thanks.

I have a friend who would like one of the "breed" patterns for a Welsh Terrier and a Wheaten Terrier as she has one of each.  Much appreciated if possible.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Importing wood

I am considering ordering wood online but am concerned about wood coming from the USA into Canada - any Canadians out there that have ordered online and any issues with extra duties or having it confiscated etc, etc.

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / Mill a board
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:55:06 am »
Steve,

From your post this morning - "I know there is a lot of information here and I left some things out. If there is interest I can do a video showing the complete process to mill a board to scroll saw ready."

I would be very interested.  Thanks for all you do for the community!

Tutorials, Techniques and Tips / resawing
« on: April 05, 2016, 09:05:56 am »
Hi all.  This isn't really a scroll saw question/issue, but I know that I will get answers.  I recently pulled out my Ryobi bandsaw
so I can cut my thicker material into thinner material.  (Took some 3/4" aspen that I used for a bowl and wanted to cut it into 3 thinner
pieces).  When I did the cut, using the fence, the material was still not evenly cut.  It appears that the blade "bowed".  Looking for tips on how to do
this properly.  Is it just my cheap band saw, should I be using a thick blade?  Help please!!!
