I am in Winnipeg, MB the geographical center of Canada.  We were closed down like most other folks but our numbers are very different.  Because we are a "small" community with no other large cities near by, we have been able to social distance quite well.  Things are starting to open up.  I did go for a hair cut when the salons opened.  Had to wear a mask the whole time.  Only 3 staff & 3 clients in at a time.  Hubby and I ate at one of the outdoor patios on Friday, our anniversary.  There was lots of room between everything. Menus were accessed by Qcodes from your phone.  Hubby is in IT and has worked from home.  I am an insurance broker. I was in the office for the first couple of weeks although we locked the doors to the public.  Worked from home for 3 weeks, but now am heading back into the office.  Doors are also open for the public.  Only allowing 3 clients in at a time.  I must admit, that other than change in my shopping habits, only every two weeks, I haven't really felt the effects.  I did stock up on wood before the lock downs happened but haven't gotten as much time as I thought i would like.  Stay safe all. I have a bar stool/chair with a back.  It can be adjusted height wise.  It also has a foot rest.  Depending on the piece I am cutting, i will adjust the height of the stool.

Barb, I also use tung oil on some of my puzzles, as mineral oil never cures very well. Scott Seifer had a good youtube on his wordimal puzzles. I tried to find the clip on his shop, Steve Good might have it on his blog still, it was a clip from sometime in 2017 as I remember.

I have watched the Scott Seifer video before.  He just uses mineral oil and admits in one of the videos that it never fully cures, but has had no complaints.

Thanks for the link to the video.  I just finished watching it and now am wondering, could you use it in the liquid form to get into some of the small areas that a brush or paper towel don't get into???

In another post it looked like the Pegas clamps come with new bushings so you didn't need new ones from DeWalt.

That is correct. I actually phoned Bearwood to confirm.  They in turn phoned Steve Good who confirmed that everything you need comes with the Pegas clamps.

Well, despite Canada Post job actions I got my clamps yesterday!!  .  Got them installed last night and got some cutting done!!!!  Thanks to all who help with my silly questions.

Barb - did they make a difference?

The only silly questions are the ones not asked....

Yes they did make a difference. Very quiet, not much vibration.  That being said, now I am hearing other noises.  Might just have to lube up the other bearings - or get the mechanic son-in-law to do!!!

I would like to thank everyone for their help.  I went to or called 4 different DeWalt service outlets here.  None of them had the "short sleeve" part in stock and it would have to be ordered in. Estimated time anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks.  Each sleeve was aproximately $10.  I was looking to replace the 4 on the clamps.  Decision time - I was going to put the Pegas clamps on my Christmas wish list.  It is not on the list anymore, just ordered them this afternoon.   Should be here in a week!!  Yes the Pegas clamps are twice the price of the sleeves, but I am sure it will be more than worth it.  Can't wait!!! Hope Canada Post doesn't actually go on strike!

Thanks Dave,  I was under the impression that the new Pegas clamps replaced the whole area.  I guess I will wait to see when they arrive later this week.

Hi Barb,

First let me preface this by saying I'm new to scrolling and the DeWalt. However, I'm not new to mechanics. These bearing are loose. I don't think replacing the holders alone will have much effect

I just compared your video to my new DW788. I'd estimate that yours have 20 to 30 times more slop than mine have.

First make sure the blade holder bolts are tight. The bushing should be clamped tightly between the sides of the holder block. Next I would disassemble and inspect the needle bearings and inner sleeve for wear.

I watched the video Steve posted a couple of days ago about the Dewalt 788.  In the video Bob said the blade clamp should move.  I have attached a video of my upper and lower clamps.  Is this wear & tear, would just replacing the clamps fix the issue.  I am hoping to get the Pegas clamps for Christmas! Key chain font is called mychain.ttf  it is used with Steve's keychain program.

It only has upper case characters plus the few special characters above.

heart yoga would look like below.


If you wanted a key chain with some other font you can do in Inkscape.  yoga takes a little work because of the decenders


If you have some particular font you want let me know and I will try.

Unfortunately, you can't mix font's.  I tried to do the heart with the word  yoga for a friend, doesn't work.
