That is very nice...I use pine on many projects because it is cheap and available.. I have NEVER been able to stain pine without it comeing out blotchy.  Your project looks great.  How did you stain it??
the only wood I can get locally is Pine, Red oak and Poplar and that is from Lowe's

try a clear sealer first.  Always try new methods on scrap pieces first..

Curt, what Mike (dunk) suggested is the way to go..  I've always had good luck with a product called Zinsser Bulls Eye Seal Coat..

CURT THANKS, I DEEP IT 2 TIMES DRY WITH A HAIRDRIER, BRUSH IT ONE MORE TIME DRIER AGAIN AND THAN APPLY THE LACQUER

I have a copy of those patterns also.  I cannot wait to cut one.  You did a fine job with the cuts and the stains.  Love it.  Thanks for sharing.
