General Scroll Saw Talk / Pegas 21" Scroll saw
« on: November 13, 2020, 09:57:32 pm »
I just received my Pegas 21" scroll saw.  The stand is back ordered until late Nov.  I did order the foot switch and light.  Any Pegas users have any suggestions on setting up for the first time?

Steve, I would like to download your email post of May 5, 2020.  It was the one with a pattern for a family name thru the middle of  the Initial and it had a link for a tutorial for Inkscape.  I can find the tutorial on You Tube but I need to the pattern and I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks

Pattern Requests. / Inkscape
« on: November 10, 2020, 07:14:14 pm »
Sometime back, Steve posted a pattern for Alpha letters with the full name appearing in the middle of the Alpha character and used Inkscape to accomplish it. There was a link to a tutorial for Inkscape.  I thought had saved that post but I cannot find it anywhere.

Can someone please put me on the right track??

I just ordered a Pegas 21" scroll saw and stand from the link on your daily post.  Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on setting it up when it arrives?

Ask Steve a question. / Scrolling Mesquite
« on: July 21, 2020, 06:44:34 pm »
I have never done any scrolling on mesquite until today. I am trying to cut letters from 3/4" mesquite.  I started with a Pegas Modified Geometry 5R. After about 2" it started smoking and burning the wood. I tried reducing/increasing the blade speed. Same result. I switched to a Flying Dutchman 7 SR, same result. I switched to a FD 9SR, same result.
I checked my blade to ensure it's at 90 degrees and it is.

Is mesquite like cherry and just burns easily?

I have halted me work on mesquite until I can get some answers.

I appreciate any tips y'all may have.

Ask Steve a question. / Which scroll saw to buy
« on: July 19, 2020, 10:21:56 pm »
I have a Hegner MultiMax 18 that I bought in 1992.  Starting to have small problems and it's so old I can't upgrade to the new front quick change blade holder.
I am looking to replace it with the Hegner, the Pegas or the Dewalt 788.  What scroll saw would you recommend even if it's not one of these three?

I value your input.

Thanks

Introduce Yourself. / DeWalt Cordless drill & 1/16th drill bits
« on: July 15, 2020, 06:05:39 pm »
I watched Steve's tutorial for beginners.  He used a DeWalt cordless drill and a 1/16th drill bit to drill holes for inside cuts.  I have 3 DeWalts and none of them has a chuck that will accommodate the small 1/16th bit. When completely closed, the chucks on my drills have a gap that is larger than the 1/16th bit.  Any solutions?
