Hegner Scroll Saw Owners.... :+)
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:58:28 am »
Here's my up-date on my previous posts concerning blades breaking....
Talked with a gal named Jean who is the Customer Relation person for
A.M.I.  After experimenting with her suggestions heres what I determined.

I was tightening the lil knob way, way to tight which put a lot of presure on the blade.  Thats the exact place all my blades were breaking at.

The piece that locks the blades to was faulty.  It is 12 years old and has had lots n lots of uses  and tightenings.  I ordered a NEW one and I am HAPPY to tell yas that after approx. a week of daily cutting I have NOT had a blade break.

So to me besides replacing a worn out part my biggest trouble was myself.

And I still feel that Flying Dutchman blades are far the best out there.

Well thats about it, so will be looking forward to responses to this.

Glad your back in business Danny. I agree with the flying Dutchman blades. I love them, and based on the little poll I did, a lot of others love them too.

What piece are you talking about that locks the blades?  And what little knob?  BTW, I have a Hegner too.  And I agree with you about FD blades..  That reminds me I was to order more today.  Got to go

Good Morning ChuckD....  Guess its called a quick release clamp.  Simply put its the part you tighten the top of the blade in.  Danny  :+}

Danny, Mike FD also sells a Quick release clamp on his site.  I got it a few years ago and it does work great and it is not all that expense.  One problem I don't have is breaking at the clamps on my Hegner.  The Delta P-20 is a completely different story.  There it more a problems with the blades slipping out until I make them to tight and then they break.

run a sand paper a couple of times through the clamp - then it will grip again.
Is also a good general advice for the small maintenance service.
