 I had downloaded a program, and decided I didn't want it, so I deleted it from the control panel, and fine it didn't get rid of everything, like my search, just wondering why this happens.  edward

not sure what you did, but did you uninstall it from the add remove programs? if so it should have asked if you wanted to remove everything that came with that program. and sometimes toolbars come with stuff that you may have installed and not have know it.

Get yourself a program called "Revo Uninstaller" and use that to uninstall programs.

World's best at getting rid of all the crap left behind....

I will look into it further but just wondering how is Revo Uninstaller compared to CCleaner
I find CCleaner does a decent job of cleaning up the garbage on a program uninstall
How do the 2 compare?

I can't compare them since I do not use ccleaner.

I have used Revo for over 6 years and have never had a problem with it leaving anything behind. Once it does the uninstall it then goes to the Registry & hard drive and removes everything associated with the uninstalled program.

If you inadvertently allowed a program to install 'toolbars' or other  crap you may have to do some further digging to get rid of them.

best to use the programs own uninstaller first,
but bad written programs will be badly removed.....
I both use a third party uninstaller and CC cleaner randomly.
both do their job well.
but be careful, one wrong "yes" and you have big problems.
always us the backup your old register setting !!
